Live from the saddle 2021

Well I’ve started to take the, walk until you find deer approach this early season. No sign, no sign, no sign, then I see tracks all over the place. Bumped 4 does up out of their bed. Wind was in my favor. I cut to the other side of the peninsula hoping they try and loop back around closer to dark. Warmed up a good bit and the mosquitos are trying to drag me off, but it is a beautiful day none the less.View attachment 55277

Walked around a thick patch of CRP/scattered small pines trying to find the best trail coming out. There's just too many trails that look exactly the same going in and out. Picked a spot but I've no faith in it. Using my platform as a seat, tucked into some briars. We'll see how it goes. Bumped a few deer in the safety zone when I was walking in...

Had 3 doe come in on my weakside and get uphill but down wind of me. Wind is swirling and they didnt stick around long enough to find out where the scent was coming from. Not my fault they didnt stick to my plan, haha!

Saw 2 coyotes at 45 yards, to much brush to get a clean shot and just had a group of very large hogs come up from behind me on my down wind side. Winded me an left right before stepping out. Doesnt help its 89 degrees here...

Well ... I just saw my first coyote, didn't get a chance to shoot it though.

Crap of course it comes back a half HR later while I'm in the middle of peeing from the tree ...ugh... And again 8 min later. I must've near it's den? Not expecting deer, looks like I'm on a yote hunt now

Had a doe bust me earlier. I’m in a creek bottom and she was up on the hillside north of me which should have been upwind. Anyway, I’m sitting in her dining room hoping she loops back around when she gets hungry. View attachment 55422
I can't look at a post of you being out in the woods now without singing "it's peanut‐butter dashiki time!"

Beautiful sunlight coming through the trees there.

Stopping for a mid scout lunch break then hiking out. Someone used like 5 cans of spray paint to mark a giant trail back in the woods here and has a cell camera in the middle of it. No, I didn't mess with the cam, but sheesh every frickin tree is orange.

Setting up next to my childhood tree stand. It’s now grown into the tree behind my dads. My old man shot one this morning here that hit both lungs and we tracked it 250 yards thru some thick stuff in the rain. Took all morning. I couldn’t believe it when I pulled both lungs out, one destroyed and the other clipped and it made it that far.
