Sorry to take over the live from the saddle thread....I tried making a thread about tree identification a while back but it didn't take off like I hoped....would be a good resource here on SH if peeps would participate

Man, I can't even believe how comfortable I am up here. A two hour hunt turned into an all day hang.

Well got my first buck with a compound bow as well as my first saddle buck yesterday. Kinda neat that I had him on trail cam a few days before I shot him and also right when I shot him. First pic is him thrashing a tree, second is literally the moment I shot him and the last is the result. He ran maybe 60 yards.

@CooterBrown to the best of my knowledge this is a water oak....the leaves are similar to the scrub oak but darker more foresty green and a scrub oak is more grey with little green....water is very similar to live oak but live oak acorns are more round....I could be way off cause I'm just a dummy making internet and book educated guesses. Please correct me anyone who is better at tree identification

I'd bet the farm that's a live oak. Think you've got it mixed up with the water oak. Other post looks more like water oak to me.

If I had a nickle for every love oak acorn I shoveled out of my boat, id be in a tree hunting Iowa right now

Like I said....I'm a dummy who doesn't know for sure....I can distinguish between red and white oak for 100% and that's about it

Trolling the last quarter mile up a creek to hit a heavy trail between oaks and bedding. Bumped 2 bucks 80 yards from my tree yesterday tree. This will let me pop up out of a high banked creek 15 yards from tree.

I fear they are underestimating the sneakiness
One more tag! Let one of those trophy spikes have it!

Last deer didn't have antler above the hairline. 2 tags. And 3 in Mississippi.

Imma try to be good. I like to give deer boat rides, but honestly my back is hurting bad enough right now I may not can get down and clean one. Slept on it wrong or something and when I went to stretch this morning I woke the whole house up with my expletive.

Well ****. Guess we'll find out if my back is up to it. Just shot a doe.

Roll tide!
Was this live from the saddle? Or the canoe? Or the bucket? Feels like it was a little too fast for the saddle setup, but then again, maybe I’m underestimating your sneakiness!
Well done!

Saddle setup. 8ft high. 20 yards from boat. 80 yards from the deer i bumped yesterday. Shot her right where the tip of my finger is. Kinda wanna hunt til 9 like my plan was, kinda wanna find her and go back and get the pup and let him work a trail before work

Nothing like reaching that point in your life when you can actually hurt yourself while sleeping.
