Live from the saddle 2021

Something I played around with yesterday and tried it today. I noticed the arms pulling in so I thought I would put a cross member on it to make it stronger but I don't like it. Back to the drawing board.
Very observant!

How many deer did you shoot???? :tonguewink:

4. The one under my tree I had to put a 2nd one in which accounted for all 5 arrows. Best day I’ve ever had in a tree

Hoping for this guy in daylight tomorrow View attachment 56360
good luck! i'm hoping for anything shootable within range tomorrow. i will not walk 2 miles for nothing.. i will stop at good sign and set up... i will not walk 2 miles to empty woods... i will set up on good sign... need to keep repeating it to myself lol

Just got done sneaking in on a little 15 acre piece I have to check the sign. I don't go 20 yds in the edge when I caught movement against the phrag. Holy crap....that's a 20" wide 8....short tines but real wide. Slipped an arrow on the longbow string and thought this may really happen. He broke cover at just over 30....no good for the single string at that angle. Awesome encounter. I crept back out as he headed back to cover.

He was 10 yds from one of my setups. It's a thick strip on a marshy stream. Pretty sure he isn't going far. May try him again in a couple hours. Probably should take the compound.

Walked in further than I planned to because I didn't see much sign at allbut not as far as I used to so I somewhat stuck to the plan from post 445 lol, bumped a decent sized deer (couldn't see if it was a buck or doe through the undergrowth) and seeing some fresher stuff around here, no poop but ribs and scraped and the deer I bumped so I set up on that area hoping it comes back or something else comes through.

Saw a nice 6 point last night, setup on some of his scrapes and he popped out right where he should be this morning. However, he was behind a thicket and didn’t have a shot.

After watching him for about 20 minutes, a dome popped out and he started chasing. Never had a shot but watched him chase her a few hundred yards before disappearing.

This afternoon, saw those two again and once again, no shot. Finally, right before last light a pair of does I’ve been seeing showed up and took one of them.

While I could still get a 3rd tag, I’m calling it for the season. Got two deer in the freezer minus what’s already been eaten so it’s been a good season.

All day sit today -sort of. My first spot was a bust because of the wind. Scouting around, saw some decent fresh sign, thinking about which tree to climb, two does come running towards me. First one never saw me and ran by at abt 10 yds. The second one diverted. Not sure if a hunter or buck startled them.

I wish I was a headlight on a north-bound train

Went back in last night. Saw four different bucks including the wide one....he's bigger than I thought. So fun being on the ground. No shot at him...so close.

Same place this morning.....passed four does and a beautiful 3 yo 10. This little spot is on fire.

Only pic I could get was of the second largest last night

I'm getting old....my knees hurt from sitting on the dirt.

What are the orange things?

Lol....there was an old ground blind in there. I used the plastic stakes as a marker to get to my tree. I only have to go about 20 yards so they're kinda close.

Still hanging. Around 11, had a doe go running across. Shortly after small buck trailing.. about .5 hour later I see a decent buck come out and go the same way I think the two did. Assumed it was a hot doe. So I got down, and moved to my other pre set where they went in. Nothing else yet. Kinda windy. The wind is wrong, but since that doe went through I'm hoping for another. Should have packed a lunch to.
