LIVE from the saddle 2025

No dice. I hunted a new set on a different farm, but my buddy watched my target tonight from 350 yds. Wind was iffy for there and he had around eight other deer with him. Woulda been tough to pull off. Trying to take him from the saddle for the contest.
Beautiful evening.

First sit on this new piece of public. Setup just above the point of a ridge that ends in the river. A few hundred yards below a brushy sunflower field & an adjacent corn field. Found a dozen beds & fresh sign when I cruised through here 2 weeks ago. Hoping for a little horse or dog walking traffic above me near the fields to scoot them on down……. 1 mile & a river crossing from the truck, we’ll see.IMG_2594.jpegIMG_2593.jpegIMG_2592.jpeg

Your setup look completely different then what I usually see. Which Arsenal platform is that? is that a FirstLite pack? Cruzr cushion? Do a run down for me!

RZR mag 2.0, yes on the cruzr tree pad, EXO k4 5000, bag is pretty much empty just using the lid this morning…. Latitude carbon SS sticks. If I’m around my place it’s usually bolts & EDP…..
How do you like packing out with the EXO? I still have massive remorse not buying your POPUP18.

Just got it earlier this year, did an overnight camping trip with 35lbs, super comfortable & fits me way better than a popup. I think the 18 bag is small. @GCTerpfan s dad has it…….
Hopefully I get to pack one out soon

I'll answer the EXO question as I also have a K4 5,000. The pack system is fantastic and handles heavy loads very well and creates a stable system. It's extremely simple to use and just keeps asking for more. I've had roughly 100 lbs on mine and while not the greatest feeling in the world the pack handles it great and makes it as comfortable as possible to carry heavy loads.

I also really like how well the system compresses. This allows you to use a larger bag for day hunts, but when needed you have the added space.

This was from 2 years ago.

First sit at my son's friend family property. Met the dad a few weeks ago and he said l was welcome to hunt on his 9 acres. Gave me a tour and l climb 12 ft up and 10 yards from a bait pile. His ladder stand was 30 yards away so this was the only tree within range. Never hang this lower before. Wish me luck. Oh l think the EDP is pretty solid. Definitely an upgrade over my Klemz platform.

I'm only about 10-12 feet up. I feel so exposed at this height. Any hints? Or its simply a matter of STOP moving around!!
You're 10 yards from a bait pile. Just sit still until their face is in the corn and you're good to go (I think, never been lucky enough to hunt private so no bait experience). From what I hear plenty of deer have been killed from that height, they aren't looking for you if you don't move.

Had to stop at the store , so wore regular shoes. Forgot my boots. New high pressure public, roughly 85 degrees. Bumped 2, sweat about 19 gallons getting up here and still seen another deer. They keep coming from the wrong way this year! It's karma for all my big platform comments :tearsofjoy:
