I should probably add that I had a good 45 minutes to decide if I was going to shoot this deer. Nice buck, but just on the edge of being a shooter for me and my goals for the year. If I had to make a snap reactionary decision, he probably would have gotten an arrow. But today I just enjoyed watching him munch acorns.

Unseasonably warm, misread when sunrise was, and I’m going to assume my kneepads are sitting on my tailgate but we out here and it’s amazing to be in a tree in the fall again. Good luck y’all, aim small miss small.

Man, I can only hope I have enough hunting success that a deer like that becomes on the edge of being a shooter for me...

Scentlok comes in a bdu pattern now? And they make lace up rubber boots now too?

IMG_9111.jpegGrabbed the Predator for the first time since February of 2021, for no particular reason. After using the Mission for so long, I’m spoiled. I miss the lighter haul of the Predator but that Mission is a full apartment in the tree by comparison.
I will say I love the geometry of this platform. It bites like my grandma without her dentures though. I don’t even have to keep the mission strapped once it bites. The predator is downright spongy until I toe hook it.
In other news, a doe and fawn came to poke around my rye and brassicas at 35 yds but they looked very young. Coulda gotten a shot, but mom looked like she was maybe a yearling when she got knocked up so we gave them the pass. It’s also almost 90 degrees out so I don’t feel like quartering a deer in that heat unless it’s over 150#. I wish I could have bottled up the cute little snorts the fawn gave as she bounded back into the brush when a squirrel ticked her off.
Climbed up quietly after they left.
Not a bad first saddle sit of the year so far.

Seen at least 6 in here Thursday night. Nothing so far but I have proper rubber boots on today, lol. I didn't see or hear deer for the first time this season. Hopefully I'll revive the streak at least. Hot here too, 85 again.

4th saddle sit of the season(ever). This spot(public) was heavily traveled a few years ago but seems like it’s dried up since. Not the spot I wanted to hunt but the most convenient due to working today. Finally happy with how I have everything set up. Couldn’t post earlier because service wasn't great.

How do you like the Latitude gear strap and bow hanger so far?

I like the hook a lot however I wish the strap had fixed loops. These slide and overall don’t seem like they are very strong. Wish I went with the Tethrd version

NGL...with you wearing BDUs and the location of that buck, I was half expecting you to have put a K-Bar between your teeth, jumped off, and given him the "Death from Above" treatment.

Edited to add: This is what's was going through my mind, this scene from "Rambo"

Got a nice temp drop with some chances of rain this afternoon, good wind for this spot for both scent and mosquito help, and the barometer hit 30 and is rising. Even made it to the tree with all my gear and knew when first light was. Great day to have a great day.

Not exactly live, but spent the morning yesterday hanging on a cypress brake watching some hot feed trees. Son was in the ladder in front of me. He made a good decision to not stretch his limits on yardage and let some does pass at 30.

Oh! I thought the loops were sewn loops? Guess maybe I don't understand what you mean by them sliding.

They aren’t sewn into place they are held on with another loop and they slide wherever you want them. My issue and I will get better at it is when I wrap it around the tree I have to make sure the loops are where I want them before I tension the strap. Made the mistake of tightening it last time, hanging my bow and realizing most the loops were on the back of the tree and nothing where I could hang something in front of me. This was only my second time using it.

Check out the version from Jakt. I got it last week and im very happy with it. Has some tight molle loops, and some looser gear loops. Packs a little smaller than the tetherd hys. Has a movable vertical strap.
