Back in the area I had all of the activity Thursday. Woods are a lot quieter today. Passed a small buck that had 4 pnts in his right side and a spike in his left. Had him at 7 yds Thursday also. Him and a 6 pnt have been chasing a doe around 75yds to my left all morning.

There’s nothing really remarkable about this spot other than it’s hard to get to and loaded with deer during the day. It’s a 20 acre flat of telephone pole sized cherry trees. It’s got some scattered red oaks and pockets of witch hazel for some underbrush. But deer will spend all day in here bedding and browsing on wild cherries and red oaks acorns. It’s hard to hunt with a bow because there is nothing that defines movement. It’s completely monotonous. It’s a great first day of rifle spot though.
 
Sitting a rut funnel. They’re out there this am. The hunters, that is. Had to go to my 4th choice parking spot so as not to crowd other people. Bumped a mature doe on the way in, and circled around her slip hunting, but not a sight since.

Nice cruiser this morning. Twenty minutes later some kid walked past going the opposite direction, talking on the phone im guessing to his buddy. He was whooping and making all kinds of racket doing a legit deer drive. This is private property that only two guys are allowed to be on, and he wasn’t one of them. Suburban hunting is something else!

Live deer but could have been dead deer twice in the past 3 days. It’s a 4x1 that I had at 7 yds Thursday morning and again this morning. He’s bedded at 40 with a doe.

However, I’ve been told that my wife’s desire to give people soap made from deer fat for Xmas outweighs my desire to shoot a nicer buck so he better not make it three times.

Yeah a buck walked through the field yesterday evening. Decent 8pt. I asked my wife if she thinks I should shoot him given the chance. Her reply was simple. "He's meat".
I told her I think he was the one I had a chance to shoot a couple weeks ago. She said, he better not get another pass.

Soap has to cure for a month before it can be used. Shoot that sucker!
 
That was unexpected. The soap buck has chased that doe around me all day. He wouldn’t let her get more than 30 yds from him. Every time she stood up he jumped up. Thy both just stood up and he walked off and never looked back. Left her standing here. Should I tell him acting disinterested never works. :)
 
Didn't see or hear anything today. All my cameras still dont have a single deer today. All movement stopped about 10-11pm yesterday. I thought warmer temps shouldn't stop rhe action, but looks that way. Not sure if tomorrow is worth a sit but Mon/Tues with the high is mid 30s will be all day sits for sure.
