Grinding it out. Big boy is slipping all around me. He was following a doe at 230 on Thursday afternoon....pulled the card at 1030 the following morning after sitting on the opposite side of the property.
Went in to where pics tell me he's coming from. Six bolts up just outside the bedroom.

I’ve spooked more deer that were right in front of me on foggy days than I’ve ever seen from a distance on clear days, for the most part. I can think of a few clear days that were money but mostly I bank on low visibility meaning I will either get closer to the deer (on purpose or otherwise) or the deer will move closer before spooking.
Ive definitely killed more than 50% of my deer on overcast or foggy days.
Maybe that’s just because Ohio is gloomy more than 50% of the time. Like, 90% of the time…

I don't know how you overachiever are turning down 8pters. Im at a level of taking a shot at one doe holding bunny ears behind another doe....

Last season was the single worst deer season I ever had. Was getting to the point I was debating buying a plane ticket to Vatican city for the pope to remove the curse from me.

I ending up shooting a small buck in rifle just cause I was so sick of hunting. And I enormously regretted it. I wasn't proud of it. Felt bad for taking it's life. Then I realized I don't actually care about killing the animal. It's this constant game of cat and mouse that I cherish playing with these animals.

Even when Im sick and tired of hunting, and the 230am mornings killing me, the thought of not going out pursing them gets me sick to my core. It'd be like Buford T Justice calling off the chase of the bandit. Can't happen

And this is why I just pulled all my cell cams this week. I’m going to put them out on another property we own instead of public or at the lease.

I just want to watch what is coming to the feeders at this place. See where to take the kiddos for a sure thing.

The big bucks have been driving me crazy on public and on our lease. Literally sign everywhere and no good buck pics in weeks. I swear they are onto my cams!

I can pop a camera up and get pics, but few. Rubs and scrapes are mostly non existent. Nothing fresh. They'll touch a licking branch, but that's all. I'm sitting on some serious funnels. Obviously not the right ones.
Tomorrow is another day. High winds and cold temps. At least the system is dialed back in. Drilled and hunted two different trees today. I'll most likely return to both at least once.
