LIVE from the saddle 2025

Funny you say that. I saw all those replies about how amazing fog is & I’ve had the exact opposite experience.
Me too. I don't think they like to move when it's a low ground fog. They are probably weary of a predator being able to sneak up on them. The fog that sorta hangs in the air treetop height doesn't seem to bother them though. Bucks are gonna move pretty much no matter what this time of year anyways. Remember, I live in coastal Maine. I think about the only other place on earth that gets more fog is London. Lol. Believe me when I say Mainers know fog.

Frozen wonderland today. 22° at the car.

This end of the mountain irks me to no end,
because I can't find a Worthington funnel to save my life. It's kinda meandering. In all my scouting, all I could do was find where the most major trail systems come together which is this tree.

I've said no 8pters, but two gigantic 8s were pounding this end of the mountain yesterday

A lil gusty this morning but the 31 deg sure is nice! Doe got picked off by a car about a half mile from here yesterday afternoon. Hoping the boys are out looking for a replacement girlfriend. Happy Vets day everyone!

First hunt for Nov today later in the evening. Its a little cold and wind look unpredictable. But I'll take it! Even if I don't see anything, its going to be nice to be out in the wood.

30 min ago I had a decent 9pt coming right down the trail I took a pic of earlier. I got ready, and debated if I was taking him or not. He got within 15 yards and stopped behind a tree. His head was showing but vitals were covered. I decided I was taking him, not a giant but a nice pretty rack.

Had the safe off ready to go and he just bolts away at Mach 1. Wind wasn't near him. Ok... No biggie, like I said wasnt a giant.

This wind is insane..

I think after the groundhog saw his shadow-or maybe it was Arbor Day?

Pulled two cameras this morning. Big 9 and freaky buck still staying home but all action at midnight. Took a ride around the block and the 700 acres of standing corn across the street can't be helping matters. My buddy had a pic of a huge yote on our east side. Trapper comes in after gun season....which starts Friday. I'm a bow guy, but things are slow and I won't mind deciding between the 350 or the 450.

Watched this guy make a rub then walk by at 5 yards

Been freezing in this weather ree since 11. A lot of sign. Been g wide heifer looking track in the snow nearby too. The ridge cuts the wind. At the head of draw in sidehill setup.

I bailed early because these idiots only called for a dusting to an inch of snow, and here we got closer to 4 in and I don't have front studded tires on my e-bike.

I get back to the ebike and I look up the ridge above me and there's a doe staring at me. Then a second doe steps out, right behind her steps out a monster buck. I couldn't count points but at least 20 in wide. Of course
