Lone Wolf Custom Gear Kuhnert Ambush Bent bolt/Fix

I think after looking at the photos the bigger issue is the threaded portion of the stud is taking the stress rather then the smooth surfaced full thickness section. The threads act as a stress riser and even further concentrated the stresses. Maybe just replacing the stud with a stud that is not threaded as far down or at the corner of the connection would help a lot.

Just a thought

I think just a button helps. The beast button I put on sure did.

I would be surprised if that button is not grade 8. All the other bolts are.

I'm sorry, but what is a beast button?

The bolt you have in the picture is not the one they are having issues with. IDK what a beast button is either I'm assuming it is the collar around the hex head in your photo. Probably adding a nut to the versa button on the outside and tightening them together would help distribute the stress as well. I just think the exposed threaded (stress riser) against the solid face of the post is concentrating the stresses by changing it out or adding a nut might be the ticket.

Trust me I know exactly what the issue is...

That is a bad design IMO....why have the bolt in single shear. No wonder the little 1/4 20 bolts can't take it

Exactly! And if by some miracle you find a strong enough bolt that doesn’t bend-That’s great. But I suspect at some point that bolt will start to open up / wallow out that bolt hole on the front of the post. The real fix needs to be a new post design with more material supporting the bolt. This is what happens when everything is based on how much things way! At some point it’s diminishing returns.... This never ending quest to save a few ounces leads to these constant failures we have seen lately.

The company I work for makes manufacturing simulation software that could probably have eliminated this issue well before it hit the production line.

How’s that CBS? Couldn’t bring myself to buy a bomber when it was $20+/bottle... might have to see if I can scoop up the 12 ozers...

Weird segue but there is a store by me that still has KBS on the shelf... I was used to it flying off the shelf within a matter of hours. I wonder if they bumped bumped production of it?

Craft beer is a fascinating industry to me. And it tastes good.

Back in my CAD days I used some stress analysis add on to ProEngineer that would of lit up red....

As long as you have a sharp bit you could continue the hole thru the whole post and get a longer bolt..... For 300dollars that is b.s.
I'd be scared the bit would walk and your hole be wonky

KBS used to be a limited release that was release only in April in super small quantity’s. Now it’s a year round release.

Founders claims this is the last batch they are making of CBS.

Ok so is the moral of the story no mod putting in a versa button with a grade 8 bolt will work due to the design? It seems like that’s the consensus.

I just need to know if I should attempt to fix this or not even bother.

Ifit were me i would get my money back.... There are other options you could try. With 300 and thrifty shopping you could have lots of platforms

Wow had no idea it was year round now! Kind of takes the luster off of it. I remember they used to release it at the brewery and it was by lotto. You would go there and wait a few hours for the chance to be drawn to buy upto two whole cases!

I was big into home brewing and craft beer scene for a while. Even considered opening up a microbrewery. Mostly a mid life crisis and borderline alcoholism phase lol. I quit keeping tabs on all the new styles and variations coming out though. I e kind of transitioned to whiskey but still like to keep a few bottles of old standbys on hand (bells amber, anyone?)
