Lone wolf hand climber seat

Watching a week ago I Ordered the LWHC from optical plant I haven’t been able to try it out yet wasn’t going to do the bolt mod. Use it the way it’s but now I don’t know it is rated for 300 pounds without mods

How long did it take you to get it? I dont think I want to trust my xop with a broken edge.

I think dylan is on to something. I do climb smaller trees and I noticed that the arms are bending inwards.

Any suggestions on where to safely put the strap?

I have mine on the inside and I used grommets plus I’ve got them tightened pretty good so there’s no play. I’m at work or I’d send pictures

@Aeds151 can you ballpark how much weight you're putting on your LWHC? For me, for example I'm walking around at 200 lbs and extra 35 lbs of gear at most. What do you think you're at?

Just looked at my LWHC, it's flat as when first purchased. I've been using the HC climbing method for the last 2 seasons.

One thing I noticed about a month ago, when climbing up a small tree I started getting audible squeeks when putting full weight on the HC. I tightened the bolts up and the squeek went away.

Stock HC, no mod.

Right now Im at 240lbs plus I have been climbing with pack and bow. Maybe 280lbs. To be honest, the platform might have been warped when I bought it used I feel like I noticed that when I got it last year on the classifieds here. Im sure I did the side twist and caused the arm to tweak with the strap where it was though. I also screwed up on the hole for bolt mod so that the arm was sitting at the corner of the spacer not rather than flush. If you remember, I posted that months ago. The screw head didnt have enough clearance from some of the angled metal. Well, should I continue to use this one or just bite the bullet and buy an actual Lonewolf HC and keep this one for parts?

I wouldn't chance it. I would order a new one and keep this one for parts.

Is optics planet the way to go for the LWHC? Im gonna order tonight. Maybe have it by next week.

Buy new and use this one for parts. IF you ever want the 50 degree angle, maybe use the old arms (a short piece) under the new arms like a lift kit. Weld it or use hose clamps to keep them together. Don't know if that would give more than 50 or less but you could measure to see before trying it.

I started bringing 36’ of rappel rope and a safeguard. I always rappel down anymore. The bolt mod can be sketch due to drilling into cast aluminum. Also, the higher angle makes the platform very loose and tippy when at hunting height. Im afraid it will cost me a nice buck. Im going to 1 sticking for faster climbing up tree ad ease of use.

Thx for the advice. I went straight to the LW SEAT mod this year but wonder if I should go back to original or even just buy a new LW seat (mine is 6 yrs old) I wonder when any of the bolts will break. R u climbing ok without the mod? Thx

I get up at 4:30 so this is my last post for the night....I have the 1st, the OG, the original Adrena Modded LWHC and is alive and kicking. So are all my friends and acquaintances who modded theirs. In the DIY world, things happen and we learn. Stay tethred to the tree and you will be safe.
If the LWHC worked good without my mod, I would have never invented it. To me and my friends, its not worth using in its stock form.
We literally wouldn't even use it at all.
Buy if others can, go for it... night

I went back to the one stick method for one climb haha. I do like 1 sticking with my helium more than LWHC method as it is faster and easier for me. I just forgot how annoying it was carrying a stick and platform then having to lug the platform up and working to cam it over/attach to tree. It is also easier to rappel with just having to retrieve the LWHC. I also like that I can move the lwhc over with my feet slowly instead putting side pressure on it. I am buying a new one but doubt I will drill it for fear of screwing it up.

I know lots of guys are doing this and having no issues but I cringe at the thought of drilling holes in that cast. Going to leave my LWHC completely stock lol
