Longbows?

Does anyone have any experience with the Maddog follower extreme? I draw 29 1/2, Mike told me I could get away with a 66inch bow. I really want to try a hill style, just haven't been able to shoot one.

I have a maddog prairie predator. Mike builds a great bow. He uses a red elm limb cores which are very interesting. They are some of the absolute fastest limb cores I have felt but I don’t feel that they draw as smooth as bamboo cores. Mike is allergic to bamboo which is why he doesn’t work with it. I will say you get a really well built custom bow for the price of a production bow. The finish on his bows is not as durable as my higher end bows but it’s also not hard to touch up either. He also builds a killer kid bow for right at 100 bucks. Three of my kids have his maddog pup longbows. Mike is a great guy and I have looked at the follower extreme also because I also want a hill bow but definitely don’t need another bow lol.

Where are you located? You may be able to find someone close who has a Hill style bow you can try. It is tough sometimes to find a certain style bow to try short of just taking the plunge and buying one. It makes the decision a hard one. It's a little like tree saddles. Lots of choices but hard to get a bunch of options together at the same time to try out.

I’m in southern Ohio. About an hour east of Cincinnati. I’ll keep an eye out at the 3d shoots for a hill someone might let me try

Yes, good idea. There are also some forums dedicated to traditional archery whose members might be local. Who know, you might find someone local and get them into saddle hunting. I've been to Ohio twice and had a great time hunting there. You have some big deer up there.
