Louisiana meet and hunt

I hear ya man, I’ve been trying to help as much as I can when I’m off as well. I can’t sleep much during the day and am on nights right now. Will do brother, I greatly appreciate it. How did you get your hands on a case of MRE’s? I can’t find em anywhere!

I’m in the army, we had a surplus of them from the units we trained leaving them behind. I’m sure most got taken. Also check out fema to see if their handing them out in your area. They do everyday here in DeRidder. 1 case of mres and water per day.

I gotcha. Yes, I actually saw on Facebook earlier that there were some being distributed here in town and I believe I’m going to attempt to get some. We shall see how that goes.

Anyone had time to check out Clear Creek, Kisatchie, or Peason Ridge after the hurricane? I’m in Moss Bluff with my teeth kicked in from Laura’s eye wall just wondering how my season will be.

Not yet, I may go for a drive this weekend and check things out and pull some cameras. I’ll let y’all know if I do and what the damage is.
Side note, I’ve only lived here for a year and looked in the wma book and online and haven’t seen anything about cutting downed timber on public? I know it’s illegal to cut down live trees but can you cut up downed ones legally? If any of you local fellas know I’d appreciate the info.

I’m not sure honestly. Call the department of wildlife and fishery’s and ask. For kisatchi call the station and ask them as well.

I wouldn’t cut anything. I know for sure it’s illegal. I hunt with a retired LDWF biologist.

Well scratch that idea lol appreciate the info!

What sucks about that is the simple fact that they aren’t going to clear allot of the roadways because they haven’t cleaned them in years and it makes it where you can’t hunt areas. Then you have people who will drive around the downed trees and then game wardens start raising 9 kinds of heck!

So I drove around clear creek wma, polk and Peason a little. The main roadways are pretty clear. I didn’t see anything blocking any of the major roads but some of the smaller paths and roads are still blocked. The woods are a mess though, completely different and I could see the deer already using different routes to avoid downed timber. Had a tree hit one of my cameras too and broke the bottom letting moisture in.

Good to know the deer are making adjustments. Guess we will have to as well.

Yea we will just have to adapt and overcome. I’m gonna give em heck this season for sure!

I hope I get a chance to hunt at all this year. Live in Moss Bluff and currently kinda displaced and at work. I’ll have to rely on past spots if they aren’t tore up.

Man don’t worry about that, if I have anything to do with the season I will put you on some deer.

Hey guys would everyone be interested in getting together in kisatchi for a weekend to hunt? I’m thinking about getting a few tents together....unless some have campers, throwing together a big campsite, good southern cookouts, playing some booray, Cadillac, phase 10, having some good drinks and having a good ol time.

For what dates?

It would have to be either before the middle of November or in January for me. During that time spread I work every single weekend for the Christmas festival spread of the entire season. It’s mandatory for the City PD.

I really appreciate that lawman. We’ll have to get together up there

Any time man. I get just as much excitement if not more to put people on deer and see them harvest or see deer. To me the comardery of fellow hunters, becoming friends, and experiencing the great gift god has given to us is what it is all about, the harvest is simply an added bonus.

What have you guys been finding scouting around so far? I’m curious if the acorns are falling early where you guys are too.
