Louisiana Saddle Hunter's Thread

Y’all must not have tried Karchners in Krotz Springs. Cream cheese jalapeño boudin balls and their smoked boudin is unbeatable.

Yea pass by em pretty regular. Still Billy’s fan.

This may have opened a whole new can of worms.

I'd take the jalapenos over the cream cheese. I put candied jalapenos in my cornbread lol

New to saddle hunting and had no idea Louisiana would have such a turnout! Living in Thibodaux, La and hunt public land all around the state.

Karchners used to be hit or miss on their boudin. They must've gotten some complaints cause they straightened it out and was always done right for a few years. Haven't been out there for awhile though

Edit...now that I think about it for a min that was quite awhile ago now that they seemed to be a little up and down. It may have been 10 yrs ago cause I was shooting at Sherburne a lot back then and hitting Karchners or Billy's every time through there.

Greetings again people. Just seeing who was still around this thread. I've made a few hunts this year in Sherburne and havnt seen much. I plan on hunting pretty hard this year, at least when its under 55*(too many mosquitos). Im so looking forward to take my 1st public land deer out my saddle. Best of luck to everyone!

I just received my AH Flex yesterday. I played around with it in the shop last night. Seems pretty cozy so I am excited to make my first hunt out of it next weekend.

Hey guys, newer to LA and living in DeRidder and working on Fort Polk and hunting Public land and on base. The 2020 season will be my first in the saddle. Let me know if anyone’s in the area, wouldn’t mind meeting up and checking out different gear. Thanks!

I just moved from North Louisiana down to Ponchatoula. Any saddle hunters in Southeast Louisiana? I am a public land hunter and planning to check out some local WMAs. Tried scouting Joyce a little, but holy hell that place seems impenetrable on foot!!?? Thinking of maybe trying Lake Ramsay up near Covington or even venturing over into MS to try the Homochitto? Would be interested to get some advice from any other public land hunters down here.

Go to Mississippi, you'll thank me later.

I was thinking Clear Creek WMA sometime in September, but this heat.... To be determined, I'll be around the forum.
