Anyone have any experience with these? Looking at getting a good pair of hikers and these are on sale on Camofire for $180. Thanks, Matt

I have them. They are holding up well for me. I use them hiking/ hunting and slip on some boot insulators once in the tree when it's cold. I did change out the insole to have more cushion.

Do they run true to size? Thanks

they run right with that little slidy metal thing they use...i was wearing 11.5 wides in danner boots....woman at REI measured me on the metal thing and said 'you're a 12 and just wide enough to need a wide'....i needed a 12 for length, on the width she didn't know that my flat feet spread inside a boot when walking....ended up with 12 wides...had to remove the lowa insole to accomodate my half length orthotic without cramping foot

the lowa wides aren't super wide....they are just wide enough for me....but i like enough room to wiggle my toes a good bit (love huge toe box boots that don't slip around)

the design and workmanship are top notch....but i've only had them 1 season mind you

traction is great, they have a small heel with a hard angle transition that grabs mud to keep you from sliding....my last hiking boots were flat soled like a tennis shoe and they could take off on you on mud (had good traction, but there was no heel)

got'em super muddy several times, waited a week to clean them, used lowas cleaning system (recommend) and after one season of probably 20 hunts in them (used other boots when really cold), they look brand new after a good cleaning

i've walked in standing water and tested them in my bath tub by leaving them to soak....zero leaks

lowa has been making these for decades and they are their top selling boot

I like them, but boot fit is very very individual. I have narrow feet and underpronate, I struggle to find footwear that fits well. I'm on my 3rd pair. I get about 2 years out of the GTX membrane and another year or two before the sole craps out.

Thanks. I appreciate the input. Looks like I’ll be making my first Camofire purchase

Very happy with mine overall. The insole they come with sucks, so you should replace it almost immediately. I’ve had trouble finding the right insole for mine, ultimately opting to pull the insole out of some Columbia hikers I like. I also couldn’t get comfortable in the regular width, despite having never owned a wide pair of shoes in my life, but the wide 10s fit perfect for me.

I ended up ordering these off Optics Planet because Camofire didn’t have the color I wanted when I went to order. Paid the same price plus free shipping. But still waiting for them to ship because they weren’t in stock. Says 2/11 till they ship.
So today I’m on Optics Planet and see they have this same boot in Anrhracite, not the color I wanted, for $180 plus 30% off and free shipping and 20% bonus Optics Planet bucks. So of course I ordered them. $126, free shipping and another $25 OP bucks to buy something else with. Which I’m sure I will do. So in the end I figure I’m getting these boots for basically $100. Size 9. They have a few left if anyone is interested. I guess after they arrive I’ll decide if I want to cancel the previous order or just keep both. I’ve had harder decisions to make so I think I’ll be ok.
