LWCG .5 vs saddle setup

Sounds like a good set up. What was it about sitting that was uncomfortable? Seat size/height, platform length, inadequate cushion?

Thanks for all the replies everyone. Good discussion.
The seat is small but it's more me, my back can't take sitting on any metal seat with a cushion on it very long, that's why I'm looking foward the the mesh seats on the new LWCG coming out. I ran an M7 one year and it was easier on my back so see what happens.

I was thinking of checking out that mesh seat. Only downfall is you can’t use the seat and pad as a replacement for knee pads!

You can buy that mesh seat from boonerbrad on archery talk for $85. I put one on my assault 2 last year and used it for one hunt. It was pretty nice.

This mesh seat is going to hang pretty far over a .5 platform from what I can see. Maybe I'm wrong.

But it's the style of a Millenium M60u seat. The M7, with it's shorter platform, has a different seat design to accommodate for the short platform. It doesn't look like much, but is still a huge improvement over LW style seats, imo.

LWCG only showed a boonerbrad-ish seat at ATA. It'll be interesting to see what they do for the .5.

I’ll measure it for you today to give an idea. He had a mesh seat on his lwcg this year but it looked like a 1.0. Maybe they’ll scale it down appropriately to fit the .5.

Anyone been using a 0.5 this past seaon have any more thoughts to add to this topic? Who all has been using the 0.5 as a stand alone treestand? Have you found the small size to an issue? Looking at either trying this stand out or waiting for the 0.75. The poteintal weight savings has me leaning towards the 0.5, but I'm worried about the size. I have a Helo and somedays I cant imagine having a stand much smaller. Whats been yalls experience over the past season?

I ran the .5 last year and this year, and like it a lot. I'm about 5' 10" 175lbs and it works well for me. I use the old LW "foot pegs" on it during the rut, when I sit for longer periods of time. The nice thing is, It sets up in any tree, well thought out, and its tight when its put together. I hunt a lot in the water and its nice not to have to pack/unpack a bunch of stuff while standing in the water. Also, when you carry more than 3 sticks and/or camera gear, things become much more difficult to carry without some type of frame, the .5 helps with this. Regardless of the stand Im usually just sitting or standing so I dont really need a lot of space.

Regardless of what I use...I’ll never go back to a harness. If I fall, I want to be able to face the tree in case I need to self rescue.
That's why I use a rock harnesses with the beast stand Screenshot_20210103-094510_Gallery.jpg

The Boonerbrad seats from AT measure:

Large seat is 19 x 12 1/2" and small seat is 15 1/2 x 10 1/2".

I'll check my M7 and see how that shakes out for comparison.

well, M7 seat is 19.5 x 10.5, so that’s the same depth as the small AT seat.

M7 platform depth vs LWCG .5..... 26” vs 23”.

standard .5 seat dimensions are 9.5”x 10”

I have fallen from a treestabd with full harness and no issue pulling my self back on platform. The key is making sure there is not so much slack you call below the stand. With that said, I am also lookng for a hybrid rc harness to use to hold sticks as I climb and dump pouch I could use for ropes.

I got the killdeer from Dryad. Light, simple, and excellent customer service.

Just got a m7 in the mail. Looking forward to mainly trying a stand with a little hybrid mix. Only stands I’ve ever used were presets or “pre-staged” climbers.

Anybody using a .75 as a hybrid system?
Does the . 75 also have the shelf for packing in sticks?
