LWCG Ambush Platform

I hate to say it, but I think I'm already planning on reaching out for a call tag to return mine. I don't want to be a prototype guinea pig, and that semi to be what all these companies are doing these days....payb $300 to test their product for them, no thanks. Thought andre and these guys had their crap together better than this. Pretty dissapointed.

Yeah, platforms are bad ju-ju. Lol

Is this response all over a bolt bending?

I don't know of a single piece of equipment i've owned that I didn't modify in some way, no matter the cost.

yeah, just a real bummer, they didnt rush to get them on the market or anything...to be foiled bay a bad bolt choice and the decision to not through bolt the post for the button is really kind of sad.

I'm curious to see what the "fix" is. If I can drill a hole and run a grade 8 bolt through it, meh. Easier to fix a bolt than a broken cast.

Still kinda a bummer though

Fair enough. Yes, I hold companies to a pretty high standard when they tout themselves as the best, or top of the line, or cutting edge. Modifying is understandable, I do the same thing, but FIXING is different. The bolt issue bothers me because they tested the platform with that soft bolt, I'm not sure(and neither are they) how the post is going to hold up to the leverage in that situation with a grade 8 bolt. Would the post have cracked or broke because of the force if the bolt hadnt bent? No one really knows.

The thig that doesn't make sense to me is that the pic on social media has a versa button.. that doesn't make any sense. Why would they send the bolt, that's known to bend, when they themselves are using a versa button.

exactly....I dont get it either.

Does my previous response make sense to you? I'm honestly curious of your opinion.

Maybe they had a lot of pressure to get this thing out on the market (delay after delay) and felt it was too minor of an issue to redesign?

Not a good idea however for a company that claims to be an elite, top of the line gear manufacturer.

It does make sense. I guess it would all come down to what you currently have and how bad you want what they have to offer. For me, there isn't a platform available on the market that is that size, therefore I will have to do a small upgrade to make it how I want it. Honestly, I don't know why they wouldn't put the bolt all the way through the post for added strength. I don't like the thought of my life being supported by that small of a piece of aluminum.

But, I also wonder about tethrd's cash versa button. That scares me a little more honestly. I am hoping there is a bolt hidden in that cast some where. haha.

Cool, I think we're totally on the same page. Funny thing is when I first saw the predator the first thing i thought woukd break was that cast button!

I have plenty of gear....more than I need, so when I pay a premium price to try something new from a premium company, I expect a premium product. Ready to go put of the box.

I wonder if they didn't put a bolt all the way through to begin with because the back side of the post isnt flat or square and would be difficult to make it that way the way the water jetting is done.

You would think that the bolt would be top of the line. The bolt itself is kind of a big deal.

The tethrd versa is a little scary. You could get a hairline crack and not know it until your feet are dangling.

This is an issue that 100% should have been found in testing. And if the fix is that simple it should have 100% have been done prior to shipping. I can sorta understand something like a casting going out with known (non-safety related) weaknesses. But if you're only shipping out 150 known-problematic parts that can be reworked in say 10 minutes each...take the extra 3 working days to fix them. Or even the extra few minutes to ship improved hardware if that's safe to use...

Not arguing with you at all. But I'm a pessimist and a pragmatist. I'm rarely disappointed because I expect little, and I'm willing to fix something if it's cheap and easy. Sure, I'm salty over a $300 product not being perfect. But I'm salty over my tax rates and the lack of P&Y bucks in my area too...

Is it not the same bolt as the tree stand? I know I saw people say sticks had the issue but were tree stand guys complaining also? If so this is a major problem that they still sent them out with the same hardware.

Modification should be an option, not a safety necessity.
The bolt probably bends well before breaking. Unless it breaks off or bends so far the strap slips off it's not going to drop anyone.

And these are just positioning aids, right?
