LWCG Ambush Platform

I think this platform will sell much better next year once the reviews start showing up on YouTube and guys start saying that a bigger platform is more comfortable. There's a lot of new guys saddle hunting this year and they'll be trying to figure out how to get more comfortable and will assume a larger platform will do the trick.
For sure. I guess I shouldn’t have assumed anything. Because you know what they say about those who assume...

Really I think they won with the price and how many was available. They are not holding on to a bunch of stands and they was able to send out for everyone that bought. Now the second group of buyers will pay the price and wait sometime to get their stands. They will be the ones complaining and mad at LWCG. Or just maybe because this worked so much better. This will be they way they do business for now on. They followed Dan’s model some.

I thought 150 was too few, but I was obviously mistaken. Not sure if they lucked out or if they really did their homework... seems maybe the ladder.

Do a lot of saddle hunters actually stand? We normally categorize ourselves into "sitters" and "leaners." I don't think I ever actually stood on my DIY scooter platform at all last year and not yet this year. Its a tad smaller than the Predator I believe. Why stand when you can lean? Seems like you introduce slack into the system when you do unless you constantly adjust your tether. When I need a change I sit for a bit and then back to leaning. I guess I don't see the point of a bigger platform - enlighten me.

It's all angles to me. I wanted a larger one so I would have more clearance for my bow when shooting on the weak side. Also, I'll have the ability to be a little farther away from the tree when I need to add a layer. In the past while tree stand hunting, I never get dressed until I get in the stand.

I am hoping this will semi help me do something closer to that than the predator does.

MY happy spot on a ROS is where I'm stradling the tree, I"m reallmuch more comfortable with a wider stance. All the tiny platformas I have tried I have to push my legs wider with my feet narrow to do this and its super uncomfortable. I think its the same reason some people are add a step at 3:00 and 9:00 on their predators. Also the ability to weay heavy boots like sorrels when its freezing and not feel lik eI need to be super carefuly of stepping off the platform by mistake.

100% agree. I assumed they’d sell out immediately with the popularity of the assassin. It appears I was wrong.

I also assumed they'd be gone in a few hours. Meanwhile there's still 11 in stock. Too rich for my blood. Plus Savage is having some good rebate deals on rifles right now. After the rebate, I can get a new Axis II with a scope for less than the assassin. I'd rather have a new pew pew.

Savage do make a nice pew pew. I have all the pew pews I desire.

@DanO, I am interested in a wider platform for the reasons @Vtbow described. I don't like my feet mushed together. I like to be able to spread my legs and air the boys out.

Honestly, it's going to be tempting to cut the "front" of the ambush off. I don't need depth, just width. Give me a wide platform for close to 3lbs and the ability to pack sticks on it, and I might be a convert.

I agree w/ @Vtbow , also I have size 14-15 boots on depending on how cold it is. I think the platform may be another cold weather tool, we’ll see. But totally agree w/sitting vs leaning & slack. I’m not really ever standing unless I’m getting setup & adjusting tether & even that’s w/LB.

We found it, scouted it, stalked it and closed the deal, just part of the hunt and,, we get to fell like a kid at Christmas for a little while. It's all good.

Check out this video from Hunting Public and Tethrd. Ernie talks about a technique where he get's into a standing position on a platform. Makes sense. Keeps him from bringing the bow around his bridge.

I think being a bigger guy, turning around on the predator is tougher, especially when you consider outer layers and boots. This is where the ambush will make it more comfortable to do so. I'm assuming it will be an easier to turn around since it is bigger. I can say it was easier to turn around on the RR. But sold it to fund for the ambush.

Prolly cuz they waited til the end of the season, only a week of bow left here in NY. Plus I bet a lot of guys are tagged out. Im sure there will be more options available by next season.
