LWCG stand setups

Double versa aider you mean? It doesn’t seem crazy to me. I guess I don’t see why it’s shady
It's not, works good. @enkriss said something about crazy, I was jokingly replying to his comment.
Some people on this forum think any aider beyond a one step aider is unsafe.
Since I use my tether with very little slack I feel it is safe for me.

Mine are just about flush I added a paracord buffer and one extra turn on my stand-off. I walk miles every night with this on my back for exercise and I’ve never noticed the stand-off poking me in the back

Backing the standoff screws is certainly an option. I don’t know how much I’d notice that on my lowest stick. But for those looking to incorporate one double (as their highest stick) with two single step sticks (bottom two), giving up any standoff distance isn’t ideal.

I had mentioned a spacer or stick caddy to take up that distance, your use of paracord is a smart approach.

Still, I would want 0 standoff sticking through the platform. That’s not to say it’s a practical issue.

Especially if you pack your stand in a MR Popup.

I’d argue if the 1/4 inch you lose from the extra turn is a deal breaker you were looking for a reason. I know they don’t stick out the farthest already but that turn ain’t much. also it helps me with on how I use cord as spacers and silencer . It works for me don’t expect it to work for everyone.

Has to check so with how the straps are on my stand would nt matter anyway. It sit far enough off my back already

why I mentioned they protrude. it’s not for my benefit. I’m up to speed on how these mate and foot room I prefer. not shooting down what you’ve got going. great job, nice setup.

for general consumption: running singles with cable aiders (in the grommets) prevents center post alignment of a single 2ble step stick like this.

I’m tracking your stance but if people like us don’t have these discussions the members not willing to ask or comment won’t benefit. Plus challenges in thought processes are what us Better I’m all for it

It’s supposed to be -20 here Saturday so I’m planning on taking the weekend off, hugging the wood stove and maybe I will finally mess with my stand and all this stuff I just bought for it, I threw my one 14” double step stick up quick in the yard one night on a tree and I have to say I liked it, I was surprised at how big it was, after I test it better I mite have to order 3 more, we will see..

No problem here. I think it’s healthy discussion. After all I recommended center post alignment 4 pages ago.

I had considered backing off standoffs, but I’ve got size 14’s and the closer the steps are to the tree the more 1/4 inch matters. With that in mind, I recommended a spacer.

For those who are ok with a little less separation from tree and ok with small protrusions through the platform, backing them off is a fair option.

Reminds me of like a naider/swaider kinda thing. I think it would eliminate the messing around with the cable aiders. Sure u have an extra aider to mess with but still think it would be nice not to have to mess with the cable aiders

Yea that’s a little bit more than I want to do. I have thought long and hard about getting another versa aider and using one on each foot same length going step to step on the LWCG compacts. But… I just can’t justify the added effort. 1lb climbing sticks I just take 3-4 - 1lb sticks for less weight and way less offset. With a one step moveable aider I can get way higher to.

I don’t think twice about the durability of the LWCG singles.

17” stick with cable aider and Amsteel is about 2 lbs. That’s twice the weight of a Tethrd 1 stick...but twice the height gained.

Those comfortable with the moveable aiders that work with Tethrd One sticks are at a (weight) advantage.

They aren’t for everyone.

Tethrd ONE’s have accommodating doublesteps...but LWCG singles have much more ample stand-off distance and a pretty satisfactory top step width.

Pros and cons.

I like how the LWCG singles mate to the stands. That’s a priority to me.

For a dedicated all double step set, modified Shikars are looking pretty nice to me.

Still thinking about the best way to pack 5 one sticks on the .5 any one useing them?Screenshot_20230203-070322_Gallery.jpg

What mods would you make to the Shikars?
