LWCG stand setups

I spent a few minutes messing around with a 14" double and the stand with my 20" sticks. I wouldn't overlook positioning the double step stick on the center post. You'll need to add spacers (or some sort of stick caddies) so the feet don't protrude through the platform. But it appears it will ride below the backpack catch and is easy to align that way while remaining unobtrusive.
Sounds like a plan! It should be here in a couple days.

I turned my 14s outward and paracord wrapped my post works well and rides ok

The trick with these is going slow.

The trick with those is knowing when to quit trying to make them work and sell them….lol

1.0 with some OG LW sticks I’ve done a pile of mods on. 17lbs with seat bag loaded and linemans on stand. Love this setup.

I'm not sure how to read it either, that's why I quoted word for word their reply. Someone has a .5 with tall post and medium seat for sale in the classifieds that they recently purchased. Maybe shoot him a message asking if it frame locks or not.

Lwcg told me that they aren't making any changes to the .5 this year so the 22in post with the med seat must lock with the pin as well. I'm getting the 18in post anyway, I'm short.

And that sounds good, bowtie. I'm definitely getting a thick seat even if I have to cut it out.

Have you heard anything about LWCG coming out with a new and better suspension system for their stands, there was talk about this summer on Mobile Hunters United..

They had a prototype at the roadshow. They mentioned it in the climber video. So I think they are planning on it this year

The profile is perfect, the gear ties are temporary obviously, I will need to grab some longer j bolts when I go the hardware store but otherwise I’m happy, I tried the stick quick in the yard… I have to say it’s the first double step stick I’ve used that the steps didn’t wobble lmao…

It's a little tricky that way with LWCG J-bolt placement. Some of the best locations have cutouts too small to pass the bolts through. Using a washer (in my case I had a versa button) lets you secure through the wolf's head. Slightly longer bolts would make this even easier, but as you can see...(Ignore that I'm short one J-hook after lending my sticks, lol)...it is doable (and rock solid)...

No impact on bag attachment either...

If I wasn't running cable aiders, I'd align the double lengthwise along the center post.

Looks good! My cable aiders are definitely coming off soon I think, I haven’t messed with it much yet but your probably right and let that 14” stick ride down the middle.

Don’t like the cable aiders or tired of messing with them?

Both. Obviously I can see the advantage for most but for me they just don’t work, trying to get my foot in that stupid loop drives me nuts, I climb trees for a living and have zero fear of using this stuff but feel way more confident in just stretching more to the next real step versus precisely getting my foot in that dumb loop every time, honestly I don’t think they get me anything extra for height, I’m sure they work for most and that’s great, but I can’t stand them. I’m not very flexible so that doesn’t help, when I’m really stretching for my next step I don’t have long before it really hurts and find it much easier to just land on a real step not that cable loop, coming down I rappel.

You guys with the double steps… when you stack them and straddle that center post is there place on that stand that helps hold them in place, do you just strap them down if not, those mini single step sticks lock down nice, about the only reason I’m keeping them versus switching to all doubles, or maybe I will..

So far just strap them down. I’ve rucked a lot of miles this month with it on my back and no shifting and no noise

Idk, they’ve been in a tote with my extra stuff all last season, lol.

LWCG has a video on fitting them to the 1.0, but the . 5 post is a bit different

Small mods I’ve also done
Shrink wrapped the seat bolt head
Shrink wrapped the T hooks on the stand
Shrink tubed wrapped the top end with f the stick bolts also

That’s a great idea. I stealth stripped my t post as they were eating up my straps. The heat shrink looks much better and probably easier.
