It sucks but I managed to crack my lwhc in two spots today. I have been doing a lot of climbing on it to build a tower stand on 4 power poles. The cracks are close to the middle and outer edge. I stepped onto the center of the platform and it crunched. I knew it was metal failure instantly. I wasn’t doing anything crazy. The poles are about 12” diameter. I’m about 160lbs and this climber is new from over the winter. It sucks because this was my go to method and I really liked it. Though, I am glad it happened at home and not on a hunt. I am back to my klemz platforms for now…. I would not rely on this method without a backup.

Bummer. Thanks for sharing. Did you have the bolt mod? Doesn't look like it would matter where it cracked, but just curious. I haven't climbed with mine in awhile since the one sticks seem more secure for me now at height.

I use a LWHC sometimes. They're very clear you're not supposed to stand on it.

I don't know much about metal, but it never seemed super strong to me. I'd like to see a purpose built small climbing platform for saddle hunting. It's easily my lightest setup.

No structural mods were done.

You and me both. Guess whose going to break out the welder. I have a few ideas bouncing around.

beast gear needs to replicate it with machined aluminum

they also should replicate a predator style platform with machined aluminum and get the weight at 2 lbs or less...they'd sell a butt ton of those.....i'd spend 300 for one

$300?!?!? Great, now you just set the price. We need something without that dumb non user friendly belt.

the belt on the climber or the strap on the predator style?

i took the strap off my predator and use the amsteel daisy chain trucker's hitch method....so much better
