Awesome! Congratulations. That should be some fine eating.
Heck yea! My buddies get em all the time and ive never had a chance to go. Theyve also never let me taste it lol. The fat on them actually tastes really good so you can cook it all together like beef apparently. Pretty excited about that.
Crazy hike getting back in where they live. 2+ miles through swamp, briars, and skim ice. I can see why whitetails dont like it in there. When i finally found her i called my buddy and told him i think i shot a baby. He laughed after i sent him a picture. They said thats a mature hind prolly 3.5 yrs old. I knew they were tiny but until its in your hands you just dont get it haha. Easiest drag/hang ive ever had.
Im hooked. Archery rut next season is a sure thing now. I need me a big stag. Perfect area for a saddle!

Oh man! I didn’t realize what it was at first I’m super jelly! I’ve always wanted to come hunt those

Congrats!

I got to hunt them during the mid-October rut this year and it was awesome just to hear the bugling. Bonus: I had a giant stag chase 2 hinds right by me.

In the end I killed more skeeters than deer (thermacell mandatory), but it was a memorable few days of hunting and my brother preferred it to his later season hunts even though they've been the most productive.

I don't know that I'll ever get the chance to hunt sika again, I hope I do.

Congrats.

Hunting late jan in 20 deg temps was the only time ive never had a skeeter near me in blackwater. Ive hunted turkeys in there 5 times now and done a bunch of scouting and it is unreal. They have no issues getting to you in the 40's either. Its a hell hole if u dont have a theramacell. I lost mine in there 2 years ago and said forget it im done for the day. Theres no way i could have hunted in there without it i dont know how the old timers did it. Prolly cover up in mud like the predator lol.

Congrats man. I don’t live far from there and did a bunch of e-scouting to go for them this year but ended up going to Ohio instead. One day I’ll get after em.

What the hell is that thing on your back?!?! :flushed:

Congrats!
Hahaha Ive tried muzzy from a saddle a few times and its just not as stable on 100yd+ shots. I could do 50. If i had my shotgun and some buckshot i would have gone with the saddle but my shotgun needs some work right now. We strap our climbers to our bikes so its still really easy getting deep in there. All flat ground with a few puddles until you get to the frag. Then its hip waders to the tree.
