Mathews VXR versus V3 advice

Definitely! I have always run Muzzy 100, I’m thinking about trying some exodus 125, I don’t want a super heavy arrow, something middle of the road would be fine, I’m open to ideas on heads and arrows, fixed blade only for me.

I’m shooting exodus swept blades 125 this year. 556 total weight 266 FPS. Fly great so far

Come on, the stuff is half the fun. If you happen to slay a whopper with it all the better right? I could think of a lot of other worse things to spend it on.

What have you guys done to me.... 2 weeks ago I was completely satisfied with my old bow stuff vowing to never switch and now I have spent a mortgage payment size amount of money on a bow I had never even heard of a week ago and to top it off I have this heavy arrow fever because of you instigators... LMAO

I read the Ashby findings years ago and bought original German Kinetics...from Germany. It's been many years, still in the box.

Now I have broadheads from Alien in Australia, too. On the shelf.

Instigators!!!

I'm still shooting mechanicals until I run out. Hope that's soon.

Absolutely!!! I wish I was in a tree right now watching the sun go down and listening to some blue jays going nuts!

When mechanicals first came out it didn’t interest me, a lot of my friends switched, hey you guys remember over draws? Back then everybody wanted super short and light arrows going fast as possible, maybe that will be the next big thing again lol

Oh yeah I never used an overdraw as every bow I shot or worse yet "heard" that had an overdraw were so loud and it just seemed like every thing was going to rattle off after 5 shots. Most of the rests nowadays are mini overdraws to some extent if you think about it. Now that heavy arrows are taking hold you're going see more innovation with trying to store more PE to launch a heavy arrow fast. Maybe things like the Bear Delta V where you have multiple pulleys to half draw weight at each leg so you can draw 120lbs and launch a 600 grain arrow 360fps. So cams levering other cams???? What a tuning chore though possibly. Why do we need two cables, and a string? Why not a string that v's to both ends of the cam and just comes together at the serving where you nock the arrow. Split strings where you can draw the limbs back further. How about a prime type system with double cams at both ends but much wider at each limb tip so if you can have wider limbs overall which help store double the energy of limbs now. I wonder what prototypes exist out there that just haven't been brought to production.

I was under the impression when I joined Saddlehunter is was only going to cost me $15 a year?
@redsquirrel I think you need to take note. There should be some kind of warning or waiver to have to sign in order to join this site.
Warning: This site will give you new ideas and may cause your swelling in your credit cards..

So that went way better than I expected, Green VXR 31.5” was $100 less than the V3 31,
I got my green VXR last year for $900 online because of Covid. I had one ordered locally that hadn't come in yet when I ran across my deal. Local one was going to cost me $1150. Hope you got a good deal as well!

I have the v3 27 and love it, had the vxr 31.5 and loved it both are great bows. Both had stiff draws as do all these sw bows from mathews.

As far as buying new bows heres my financial opinion...you either buy new every year to get a decent price for your used one or you hang on to a bow for 5+ years..just an opinion

Whisker biscuit...ive had every rest you can imagine and i always come back to the whisker. Why? Well because i finally realized im not a pro archer or hunter...i need to make a shot no more than 30 yards into a pie plate sized vital area to make a kill shot...with a whisker there are no strings, no timing, no frills but not much to go wrong...ive found anything that can go wrong will so i try and simplify what i can
Best of luck on your bow purchase

Well a little update on my new bow, I just got home with it, all I can say is wow, I had no idea how easy these new bows are to shoot, stupid accurate, fast, forgiving, my advice to anybody living under a rock like I was is to go try a new bow, after a bunch of thinking I finally decided to hold off on a heavy arrow for this year, maybe this winter when I have more time I will experiment some, I ordered a dozen gold tip velocity xt 300 spine, and I am going to shoot exodus 125 grain heads, I found a smoking deal on a new Mathews MX integrate rest and ordered it, then I had second thoughts after reading reviews and such of people having some problems so I canceled it, now after talking again to a buddy at the bow shop he has convinced me to give it a try, he promised me I will be super happy, so what a mess I can’t make my mind up but anyways the new scrub buck killer was a good investment and I’m glad I did it, season here starts 9/27 and I usually fill the freezer first with my bow then chase horns so more than likely it will see some action fast! Thanks again for all the advice I appreciate it!

You should have very minimal problems with the rest once you get it set properly. If you don’t like or mentally it bothers you, the whisker biscuit always awaits. Chrono that bow with those arrows. They will be awesome.

What problems were folks having with the Integrate?

I'm mostly blind on all the new bow stuff, but this one new feature did catch my eye when it was announced. I've always thought rests, as well as sights, have a pretty poor mounting solution on archery gear.

I like where you're taking your setup.

I've poured over broadhead reviews for years. In testing, Exodus have just seemed to hang in there with the select and often much more expensive "best broadheads" crew for some time.

300 spine GTs, money.

From my online research, what I’m hearing is random failures to drop, 70 good shots then the sucker won’t drop, mess with it then it works again for another however many shots and problems again, this is just what I have read, some people love them, the guy at my bow shop who I know is a die hard, competes all over the country told me he’s had zero problems, he think’s the few problems he has heard of are timing related and his opinion was on new bows and this rest, stuff stretches when new and if people don’t keep the cord properly adjusted and in time then failures could happen, he loves the new dovetail mount and I would have to agree hence my desire to try one I also know I’m not big on maintenance and this rest is probably overkill for how I hunt, 30 yard and under shots, so it probably makes no sense for somebody like me to try one. If it breaks the dealer will take care of it, you can’t send it back to Mathews or QAD must go through your local dealer, so here’s another problem there all over ebay for $150 new, dealer price is $260, so does a person save the hundred and have zero dealer support and basically throw it away if it breaks or suck it up and pay the full shot knowing help is on the way if needed lol, I’m just gonna say screw it for this year and maybe after season when I know I have all winter to deal with problems, if there is any, makes more sense than 2 months before season.

I’ve never had a problem, but to your point if you wanted to exchange a bit of speed for a bulletproof solution your comfortable with then I see no harm in it. Use what ya love. Who cares about the rest……

You didn’t ask me but I was very skeptical at first as well but eventually tried an HDX and I now have multiple and have never had an issue. I know it’s a slightly different model but I would feel confident using it myself
