Mechanical or Fixed

Have been using Rage Chisel Tip SC 3 blade. They do the job pretty well. Already got a nice 8 this season with them, laid down 20yds from where I shot him. Can't beat the hole these mechanicals put in the deer. Will be trying out Rage Hypodermic NC this season. Haven't had any issues but worried about the 3 blade not deploying correctly. Always carry Muzzy 3 blades with me just in case though.

I have shot strikers in the past, and was really impressed with them. I'm currently shooting magnus stingers, but when those go bye-bye I'll probably go back to strikers. Sharp little boogers, and mine flew great.

Good to know! Thanks for the feedback!!!

I shoot both. Right now my recurve has 200 grain grizzlies in the quiver. My compound has rage hypodermics in the quiver.

Been using Nap Spitfires for years all varieties without a hiccup. Switched to 2 blade Rage this year to see what the hype is all about and may go to the fixed blade QAD Exodus.

Used hypodermics for a couple seasons. Harvested my first deer with them. Trying the sevr 2.1-100gr and their 1.5-125gr, but also have wac’em 3 blade 100gr ready to rock.

I use both depending on the expected range of the target and weather or not the arrow may come into contact with grass on the way to the target close range I prefer mechanical with the larger cutting diameter, longer range fixed blades

I shot fixed blades forever, Thunderheads, and NAP Nitrons until last year. Went to the Rage Trypan to see if I could get some more blood to spill so I could follow the blood trails easier. Killed three deer with them and had no problems. They make a crazy wound and spill a ton of blood. I avoided mechanicals because of the possibility of a failure to deploy. At this point I figured they would have worked out the problems, and so far so good. I'll shoot them again this year. I do have to replace the blades on them though.

I use a mix bag from grim reapers to nap for deer, but I generally rely on single bevel broadheads for lethality when it comes to pigs. I live in a state where there are a bunch of wild boar and encounters are regular here in coastal SC.

If your interested in reading check out the link below it’s pretty interesting. I’m not affiliated just a fan of his research.

Have always been a fixed blade fan, have always had the mindset if I can tune my bow good enough to make a big fixed blade hit where I want it to hit why bother with mechanicals?
Currently using g5 strikers again this year, but also have a left over ram cat that I really like and a dead ringer rampage 1.5 that I will shoot a doe with.

I have been using mechanical Rage broadheads, but I have always had issues with them opening up while walking through the woods. This year I am using 1 1/8" slick trick fixed broadheads

Magnus Stinger Buzzcut 4 blades are going to be my go to this season. I spent much of this off season learning how to tune my bow, and now that it's dialed in I see no reason not to shoot a fixed blade head.

I've never shot a mechanical broadhead but have bowkilled 280 deer with fixed blade broadheads.

I got to say that no matter what some one uses itll kill deer, and do it effectively. No matter what type of bh it is, it can be damaged or lost. I started archery hunting using nap thunderheads, shot those for a number of years. Then tried tried the rage 2blade chisel tip. They killed deer to, and did it well with one heck of a blood trail. The one thing for me, personally, IMHO, from my experience, just my take, it wasnt worth the money for a broadhead that either needed repaired or replaced with every deer I shot. Now I realize that many have shot deer and have been able to reuse a rage, but this guy has not. So I started shooting magnus stingers and setting my bow up more like a traditional setup, heavy tree trunk arrows, and fixed blades. No matter what your setup is, it's your setup, if it's working use it!
