The $15 membership allows you to use the classified section and enter the hunting competition. You can still use every other feature of the site. Why would you leave? Why be angry? So what if you can’t sell or buy. There are lots of other sites. There are no other sites with the information available here. That information is still free.

Your making to much senses quit it. Lol
Personally I don’t think it’s going to be enough to make a difference.

Understand the frustration about the cost, but considering what RedSquirrel has done for saddle hunting, he’s put in his dues. Not saying that I’m going to become a paid member, but I see this as a deterrent to keep the scammer jackwagons off the classifieds section. Will hopefully give them pause to having to pay a $15 admission if they want to keep ripping people off, but only time will tell.

I would guess that'll help keep the scammers away. I'll def pay. He's been paying out of pocket for years. Plus it'll keep this place ad free which is one thing that drives me nuts about AT. IIRC wasn't there a discussion about a month ago in which many folks chimed in and said they'd pay to keep the place ad free? Guess $15 is too much.

But why just charge to see classifieds? And why would someone pay to be in a contest where there is no prize?
1. where are you going to see all the saddle items in one classified?

2. because it’s fun.

3. Because some guys have been wanting and willing to help Red with the site for years and this is a way to see who will put there money where there mouth is.

4. If you don’t use the classifieds fine but you seriously don’t think you’ve got $15 worth of information out of this site this year? Really?

How about because he wanted to keep the sections of the site that contribute to people's safety and general saddle hunting information free, so he only limited the classifieds section?

Some, not all, users are profiting from classified ads on the site. If this site was not SOMEHOW monetized in some way to benefit the site owner, it would eventually fail. You can't have expected this excellent resource to exist free for your benefit forever.

There is a wealth of information and good will on this site. You are still welcome to participate FOR FREE. A small portion of what goes on here will be restricted to those willing to cough up a modest fee, totally in-line with what many of us paid for print magazine subscriptions. What goes on here, with all the interactivity, is much better than old-school print magazines.
