Totally new to merino wool. What weight do I need for hunting? Likely in the 20-40 degree range for temperature.

Gotcha, sounds like we are pretty similar.

250 weight is the most versatile IMO. Can wear it anywhere from 20-60. That said, once I get into the 20s with high winds I usually have another layer, besides that 250 merino and my insulation.

350 weight is the heaviest I own and can't wear it until its 40s or lower.

You also have to look at whether or not the fabric is brushed. Generally merino is very smooth but when the brush it it has more of a sweatshirt feel. This increases the insulation effect. So a brushed 250 would be nearly as warm as a regular 350 weight.

Thanks! I'll look for 250. I have some polyester base layers that I use for warm to cool weather.

I also may use it for hiking so I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for the help!
