Hahahaha.......you can catch a ride down with EWO

There are new faces every year but there is the core group. They are the reason it's such a good time. Me personally....I care less about the sponsor stuff. I'm there to have fun and swap stories with the guys that have been going year after year...some of us met up in ft Stewart.

Our location is nice too....if you camp, you can wake up and walk 10 minutes down the road and your in hunting woods. Last year we all got to listen to gobbling turkeys Sunday morning. There's really good fishing 5 minutes down the road.

Most ppl usually just come for 1 day and then leave. The campfire is where the magic happens and why we keep doing it every year ......IMO

Hey man I love my Michigan guys but I feel a little attacked here because I am from Florida and I am not blonde…. :tearsofjoy:

On a more serious note, we have a couple (sometimes more) of the Michigan guys come down to Florida. If you have ever seen the weather down here in late February compared to basically any other state where hunting is popular, you would probably love our chigger free WMA’s…. We do not deer hunt during the meet up because season is closed, but we definitely have hog hunts and our hog population is the second largest in the country.

As @MattMan81 mentioned, it is not an easy task to cry plea and beg for companies to “sponsor” events such as meet ups and it also comes at great cost to the organizer as well because there are additional expenses and promotion that goes into it. Fortunately some of the best dudes in the whole industry are saddle manufacturers and many of them got their start on this very forum.
You donating something as cool as a custom built bow is a great way to garner additional attention.

Our “fancy” name was picked to pay homage to the original Saddle Hunter meet up in Ft Stewart Ga called Saddle Palooza. When it fizzled and died out, some of us wanted to keep the magic alive so we spawned a similar event and then added a touch of Florida Man flare :tearsofjoy:

I am trying really hard to make it up to Michigan to hang with some of you guys because of the love, support, and wonderful advice this forum and members have given me. And no matter how big or small the meet ups are, any of you Michigan guys are welcome to come down and join us and I hope the same offers are always extended to us from y’all…

Signed your local Non Blonde Floridian
Just so we're on the same page, I went to school in Titusville. Go War Eagles.

This would be the major reason I'd head down. Nothing like swapping stories around a campfire while enjoying some beverages.

Truth be told, that my favorite part as well… all the gear, climbing demos ect are my way of growing the industry here locally. I can’t please everyone but I do my best to incentivize the more casual folks. The camp and fire is a much smaller group and it helps the whole meet up keep its good ol boy vibe

Hunter is coming down from EWO. Two years ago we had another member join us but we messed up on the hog hunt and had him with Hunter and Scott L went with me. I think being stuck in the thick Florida woods after dark might have made him reconsider his choices
If memory serves me it was @TreeMunkie who also came all the way down from Michigan one year.
I also hunted for hogs at Ft. Stewart with DanO. The problem with hunting with the EWO fellas is that they are so tall the hogs can see them coming from a mile away so you have no chance. I'm still on the fence on going to FL this year. It's been so cold in MI I want to go to FL now, not in three weeks.

I took Hunter out last year with me and my son, he hunted from the ground. I have a buddy who offering to take you guys to his private lease with a feeder to ease the public land burden lol
Either way, I won’t send you guys go off into the woods without me again. I blamed Scott :tearsofjoy:

I had my first consult with the orthopedic surgeon yesterday for a knee replacement. The result of the consult was the replacement is the best option (after the xrays I overheard the nurse say from the room across the hall "He's been walking on that for 30 years?" :tearsofjoy: ). I'm not sure of the timing yet but the surgeon said they target 6-8 weeks to get everything done then its just PT and recovery. Even if I can't climb yet I'd still like to attend to hang out if I can. We'll have to see how the timing works out.

I'll come to either May date, my brother is going to be here that weekend in June so probably won't make that date.

I probably won't make it if it's in May. Month of May is a busy one for us. Running race stuff, then the 500. The track will take up most of our weekends in May. May be free the second weekend? Depends on a lot.
