What did you guys think about the location? Pencil it again for next year? First Saturday in May? Or do you want to see if move locations?

I liked it. There's plenty of climbing trees with good access (i.e. park right next to them :tearsofjoy:) and plenty of room for a pretty good group of guys. Of course my only issue is the drive but I realize that's the price I pay for where I live. :) In reality its a pretty central location for most of the guys who regularly attend these.

My sentiments exactly!
Thanks again Matt.

Location was good for me, but I feel for the guys that had longer drives. I'm open to driving farther.
Thanks for putting it together, and for following up @MattMan81 !

Side note, MattMan on your Drt set-up was the Blake's hitch tied in the same rope you/we were climbing on? It looked to be all predator but I didn't look very close. If it was all the same rope was that hitch tied in the tag end or a separate piece? Is it customary to use all the same diameter rope in DRT? I thought friction hitches were normally 70-80% of the climbing line, as a rule.

Thanks! Sorry for a long winded, newbie, post

Yeah. It was tied on the tag end. Left the end from the carbineer long and tied it back on its self. I was cruzing the NY saddle hunter today, and they said you can also use a hitch cord and clip in if you want. I'm gonna mess with that some more this summer. Or I think JRB has some hitch that works as well.

Damn, sad I missed this. Especially since it wasn't too far away from me. Anyone near Lapeer that has a Drey or the Latitude 2 XL? I currently have an Aerohunter merlin for my first saddle, but want to try those two out to see if they'd offer me more comfort.

@Horn had a drey. @DanO has a variety of saddles and he is in Lapeer.
The drey is pretty sweet. Lots of adjustability. Little bit of a fumble factor. But you can really dial it in.
That latitude classic is a fine saddle as well. Even with out leg straps. I have tried the method 2 xl. But wasn't a fan of the original.

Looks like you guys had some great weather and a good time. @boyne bowhunter was hogging the camera time I see
Seriously though I wish we had the same type of weather for our meet up down here.
Weather was perfect, right about 60 with a little breeze. To be honest I was too busy flapping my gums to even notice anyone taking pictures. :tearsofjoy: I got in the car to leave and said to @movehuntir "Crap, I forgot to get my phone out for some pics!"

Yea my wife took all the ones at ours otherwise I wouldn’t have any pics either lol

@movehuntir what were you using before the buzzard roost? First timer here it zipped right by and I forgot to ask / missed some things. Excellent recommendation on the safeguard, I already bought one!

No leg straps lol. :tearsofjoy: I do have a Drey. Are you looking to try it as an add on or did you want to try the whole system?
Looking to try the whole system. I've considered just adding on the hammock to my existing set up, and haven't ruled it out yet, but the whole system is appealing.

Would you be interested in meeting to try the drey out sometime? My weekends are usually pretty flexible

I’ve also got a drey and a few other saddles in the Grand Rapids area If ya want
