Update on GA Milkweed.
First off, I got some of @Allegheny Tom pods for a cause and that stuff is mesmerizing. I could play with it all day.
So...the other day I was scouting in Cen. GA on Cedar Creek WMA and came across what I first thought was a bird kill. I bent down and realized I was looking at milkweed seed/feathers. Imagine my excitement! I looked and compared to what Tom sent me and the seeds are very different. The GA seeds are jagged around the edges and larger. The fluff is also about 1.5x larger and floats better in my opinion.
I dug around and this is what I think I found, Asclepias Humistrata. It is native to GA and appears to be finicky. I harvested some seeds and I'm going to try my darndest to get is started in my raised beds at the house. We'll see. I'm excited to see it local to GA, native and thriving in my most favorite haunt in my area.
Happy Hunting Friends!!
