Mini Stick Platforms - OOAL vs. Artisan

Considering a stick top platform for short duration run and gun sits. I already do this occasionally atop a modified mini API stick. Plenty comfortable for me, just looking for a little more surface area for easier 6:00/weak side shots.

That said, which do you prefer and why? OOAL Scout or the Artisan mini platform?

Seems like the Scout extends away from the tree while the Artisan platform extends toward the tree. Pros/Cons/Thoughts? Anybody tried both yet?

I picked up an Artisan on here a month ago. Haven’t played with it a lot but I like it. It’s solid and good base for my 10.5 feet. No experience with OOAL. Are you a leaner or sitter? OOAL def seems to tailor towards the leaner more with its angle. I saw the attached pic on FB of someone that put both on his stick. That’s tempting me lol

I used what is essentially a wooden artisan step all season. Then way I sit/lean in a saddle keeps my ankles angled toward the tree. So, though my platform was flat, my feet were on the edge of it in order to accomplish a comfortable ankle position. As this isn’t comfortable you have to periodically switch from the heels, balls and middle of your feet.

I think the OOAL scout does a great job at fixing this minor issue. It gives just enough width at just enough angle for your feet/ankles to be comfortable. At the same price my money is going toward the scout. For me it eliminates the need for a platform and reduces my overall bulk and weight.

I need something like this. Im looking for a platformless option for those non all day sits. Im not liking the angle at first look.

Both. I move around alot. More of a sitter on all day. More of a leaner on short sits. Thats why I love the saddle. I move around so my back/ body doesn’t get sore in one position.

Same here. I came from a small platform and this thing seemed even smaller. When I got on it in the tree it does it’s job well. Optimal comfort with minimal space.

What are your concerns specifically? Maybe I can get on it tomorrow and test out specific cases for you.

I thought the angle would be a no go. I got on one for just a couple minutes at saddlepalooza and I actually liked it angled.

Can you put the scout on other brands of sticks besides OOAL?
You can purchase a Scout platform to fit 1" square tubing sticks from @DanO through Eastern Woods Outdoors.

how did they make that work?...this looks perfect.

just got the ooal. really helped my feet, was very stable with any pressure on my api stick, and whatever the grip is on there its awesome is like 40 grit sand paper.

Shoot yea, more like 24 grit. That finish bites like a dog.

Sometimes I like to stand straight up and grab the tree, sort of a reset I guess.
Also I was thinking those positions where you turn fully around with your feet say perpendicular to the tree, if that makes sense.
I may give it a whirl...heck I buy everything else that comes out...lol

There is still a top step for when you need to stand vertical. Just like a regular double step

Well yea I don't think it's made to turn around and stand on. I don't find that a necessary position. I agree if that is what you would like to do with it you're going to be tight on footing space.
