Good luck. There are some nice deer in the Chatfield area. I am taking my son for an afternoon hunt near Eyota. I am hoping he can arrow his first buck there.n

I am heading out into a swamp near the Mississippi in the morning.
 
There's a few over in the west metro area too! I'll be spending most of my time this year hunting a couple lottery hunts and on a friend's small private piece. Can't wait.
 
If it weren't for that cluster of dead sticks didn't see were in the way when I climbed in the dark this morning, I would've had a nice little 6 pointer at 15 yards.

Was nice to see one right away on opener morning and have it walk right by me without knowing I was there. Also had a grouse land at the base of the tree I was in, spooked the **** out of me it was so loud and fast flying in.

hunting near Mille Lacs lake right now. Got mixed up in the woods this morning. Jumped about 10 turkeys at 6:00, scared the crap outa me. No deer yet but im hopeful
 
I had a decent 8 pointer come by just out of range at 8:30 this morning. He walked right past the tree I originally planned on setting up in. I guess I should have stuck with my original plan. Oh well. It was a fun hunt. I am taking my son this afternoon.
 
Swampman did you end up hunting the swamp near the Mississippi river? I scouted the Wisconsin side near Whitman bottoms and seen some deer sign. Hopefully get out soon

I was in the river bottoms this morning, not too awfully far from you. I was surprised how dry everything is, especially when compared to last year.
 
What's the MN take on deer hunting in the BWCAW? I've been up there a bunch canoeing/fishing but never hunting.
 
that cut my evening hunt short, black bear came within 8ft of the base of my tree, had to yell at it, and then i could hear it tromping around for another 15minutes while i got ready to bug out.
