Missouri Meetup

Depending on dates I would probably try to make that as well. If the southern border is open LOL. The park/archery range where they have Mojam might be a good location if that is an option. Not sure who to contact about availability though. It would meet the central location.
I'll look into it!

I’m guessing most everyone would want it over a weekend. One day? Two?

I think it’s sensible to meet in the central portion of the state since it sounds like we’re and far flung for the most part. What do you guys think?

Does early August make sense, since that would give us time to warm up and get the preseason started off with some new saddle thoughts just in time to order before season hits?
I would be down for spring time to beat the heat.

Might be fun to meet up, go chase some gobblers, play with saddle gear in the afternoon.

Dude that is a good idea! And might be an excellent chance to expose some deer hunters who don't hunt spring thunder birds to that addiction!
I'm down for that.

What if we got someone to come down and lead a scouting workshop on a large piece of public. We could include how to choose the right tree and set up with saddle gear. Then we could split up in teams of 2 or 3 and scout as much of the area as possible sharing the points of interest on onx. Then set up another camping weekend after Sept 15th to meet up again and have our own MO public land hunting challenge. I think it would be awesome we could all learn something and get some hunting in with a great group of like-minded hunters.

I would be down with this also!

I'm in, my son is in St. Louis and wants to start Saddle Hunting. would be a great way to spend quality time and introduce a new member to the sport. Keep me in the know. Thx.

Where in St. Louis? I live North of St. Louis in Alton and I can meet with him to give him a (non) crash course in Saddle hunting.

Sounds like a blast! I'm SE of Springfield with about 40k of public Ozark mountain down the road. Or where ever y'all decide. Spring gobblers sounds like a hoot!

So I was down in Southern Mo this weekend at my family cabin and checking out some public land around the area and was looking at the Current River Conservation Area near Ellington MO and thought it would be perfect for a meetup weekend. It is 28,000 acres and allows camping in designated areas and even allows ATVs on the marked logging trails in the conservation area. It is the area the MDC is building up the Elk heard so there are numerous wildlife food plots (would be cool to see an Elk while Deer hunting). It is big woods hunting though for sure, but with that much area, we could get away from any pressure I would think. Does anyone have experience hunting the area?

I'm interested as well

Been following the Wisconsin meet up too since my sis lives up there and might be visiting her around their meet up. They just sent out a form to narrow down where people live and an appropriate location and time/season for everyone. Would something like that be good to get this thing nailed down? I would be happy to but since I’m not living in MO anymore and not sure if I’d make it anyways thought someone else might like to take charge.

Feel free to use the questions and answer options from my Wisconsin survey as inspiration. I believe a survey from The PA Meetup was my inspiration. Sounds like the MO meetup will involve hunting which is something that would be cool to add to the WI meetup in the future.
