I cut the front off of an old loggy bayou climber and took most of the seat parts off... As it is now it weighs around 8 pounds.. I think I could get it down around 6 pounds without seat bar and strap... but as it is now I can use the ratchet strap that came with stand to ratchet seat bar down to base to lock it into the tree solid.. probably going to change ratchet to cam buckle strap though... afraid to do to much more trimming on it though to save weight.. any ideas? I could maybe save very little by cutting down metal band a little.. I haven't used it yet.. but got a good deal on it. I used one for years and it always climbed good and was solid... you just have to watch the spring loaded pins for the band....but that's another story...lol

Do you really need the metal band? It seems to me the strap on the base should work fine given the way those were made. Once that channel is into the tree and tight, it really became a lock-on.

That was really a cool concept for a stand, I used one for almost a decade.

It’s worth adding that the metal bands were the weak spot of those stands anyway. Once my band broke I just used as a lock-on until the squirrels ate up my seat!

I'm wanting to use it as the climber... I have a lone wolf hand climber with bolt mod.. but it seems to want to slide down the tree...playing with the angles a little... it was right at 50 degrees...trimmed enough off the nuts on the mod to make it about 45 degrees.. Illl see what that does.... This loggy is bigger and heavier..but not excessive.. but they climb good and I should be able to lock it to tree when I get up there..

Oh I see, I thought you just meant as a platform. Beyond what you’ve done, which looks really cool, I am not sure where else you could trim and not lose some strength. It will be a roomy setup for sure.

Nice. Do you have the "spurs" that they outfitted them with that year? they looked like tittle steel arrow heads that went into the platform channels that run perpendicular to the platform slats and end where the "u" is that hugs the tree. Basically they added a two teeth to that area for extra grip. made a huge difference on wet/frozen or slick trees. I like your thought here, and the fact you can throw a strap on the seat section like designed still and end up wiht a rock solid platform.

Ill have to look.. I dont think it has the spurs..but that would be nice if it did..

Almost where I want it.. I'm wanting to use it mostly with jx3.. or occasionly saddle..
