Muddy Pro Stick Recall

So do I send these back? I have a return label from the eBay seller already, but mine are just like the ones posted above and look brand new with the same batch number. I wasn't planning to use them, but was going to sell 3 of them and don't want to do that if they are recalled.

I don’t know what to think. GSM outdoors owns muddy and hawk and the people answering the phone haven’t a clue. I had a standoff bend in a hawk. The guy I talked to didn’t know what a standoff was. Offered me a discount to purchase a new stick but couldn’t say if it was a new stock, or old stock. I don’t see how these muddy sticks could be part of the recall unless gsm found a couple containers of recall sticks and sent them out not realizing they were recalled sticks. Highly doubtful but if the person over shipping is at the same level as the service rep I spoke to.

If they have a serial number on them, I'd call and ask them first. Seems odd to me that people are still buying recalls from 2012 in 2019 from big box stores. I have been wrong before though.

DanO,
I’m not going to tell you there not recall but if they match the ones above they’re not recall. Lol
The build date is out and the model number doesn’t match the recall. I wouldn’t have a problem using them or selling them.

See you in a tree, Ricky

I bought new pro sticks in 2018 from Muddy. They match the recall description, but never could figure out for sure.

Either way, those sticks are retired. Recall or not, there is too much play in the steps and they even make an audible click when you step on one side as it shifts against the post. And before everyone starts PM'ing me, I'm not selling them. I can't/won't in good conscience.

The stand offs or tree brackets look exactly the same as on the api huntin sticks and there are no recalls on those sticks. I am assuming that’s what the recall is about is the stand offs, correct?

That's the problem, the recall doesn't state what the exact issue is. I have an RMA from eBay and also one from Muddy now, but I have to pay shipping to return to Muddy so I'll just return them to the eBay seller.

Heard back from Muddy and apparently these are recall sticks. I am skeptical due to fact that I bought them new in 2019 and they shipped direct from manufacturer, but according to customer service rep at Muddy they are indeed recall. No serial numbers.

Customer rep at Muddy didn't do a lot to inspire confidence.
My experience with Muddy cust service was so poor for this whole thing... makes me want to avoid all products, but parent company owns other companies.

It does give me a nice excuse to upgrade and spend $$... and who can argue with supporting some of the smaller business....
