Pro sticks just came in the mail, test drove them in the yard for a bit. I like the design, but I think quality control was left on the table. The foot rests are designed to fold open and close for packability, but some of them were so stiff they were hard to open, and one was so loose it wouldn't fold close. One top step was fairly wobbly. 8/10 Overall,2 I'm satisfied and they are perfect for what I needed.

Guess I'm being overly critical, but I'll have to do some tinkering with it. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Mine should be delivered on Tuesday and then I will let you know. The price was right so I think I can make them work and if not I can sell them and go back to my Lonewolf or Helium sticks.

Welcome to muddy pro sticks...... you summed it up well, workable but quality control is lacking. Some are great & some not so much

I have post recall / pre merger muddy pros. They will get a little “slop” in the steps when the nuts and bolts loosen up. Just snug them up every fourth hunt. Too snug, and the steps will not move, too loose and they will not stay in one position or the other.

That issue, and weight are the only things that I hear people complain about.

For me, it is worth the trade off.

Good luck.

That's pretty much my experience with the pros. The play in the steps drives me nuts, so I will be using the Heliums from here on out.

Ran muddy pros all season. I didn’t have any QC issues. The steps were kinda stiff but once they were folded out i never messed with folding them back every time. Seems kinda pointless. Good sticks. My only complaint after 1 season is the weight. I found myself only packing 2 sticks most of the time on long hikes. 3 if I wasn’t going as deep.

The tree brackets on mine will not stay tight. I tighten them down and as soon as I put them on the tree they get so loose they will flop around.

Well I got my Muddy sticks and here's my review. I put them together in about 10 minutes with no problems. My steps were tight and the bark biters went on easy. The paint had a few scratches but I'm going to paint them anyway. I give them an A.

Cool. Out of curiosity, how are you painting them? Custom painted gear could be a whole new thread idea

Check out this thread. This works great!

Aw that is cool, I've done lots if camo paint jobs with leaf stencils but I've never dabbed paint with a sponge like that, those sticks really vanished.

Thanks for the input boyne!

If you search on here you'll find a lot of info on poor Muddy QC. I started a thread in particular maybe 3 or 4 years ago. I will not purchase anymore Muddy products. They were defective and refused to do anything for me about a stick that wasn't functional.
