My DIY ultra-light stick build....

So I'm hearing 8", 9" and 10". Would rather not do 3 variations and I think 8 is just too small. I'll check with my friend on Sunday and get his input and see what it would take to offer different sizes. Interested in more options on what works for others.

I wear size 13 and made my steps 8".

Just meet in the middle at 9 inch. I'd be in for some. See how many you have to get for a price break. I'm sure you'll meet the quota. Keep us posted

I still have to drill holes but these are weighing in at just under 2 lbs ea. without the ropes. 8" steps seem to be just fine. I wear size 13.
I offset the versa buttons and LW Standoffs so they'd stack square instead of telescoping.
I'm making Amsteel ropes instead of the LW straps but they worked for testing purposes.

Checked and I think there's enough interest to get the price down to at least $10/step and 9" steps might be a good compromise. If you want shorter you could cut them down. He's gonna do a sample once he gets a free second and I can send over final pricing and pics.

That’s a good price. In the low quantities I was getting them in I could never get them below $12.50.

-milled/slotted in the back ?
-need no welding ?
-attach with 1 bolt ?
-weight reducing holes ?

If so, I’d be interested in some

Yes to all of the above! Once I get a set I can see what it will take to ship. I'm not making a dime on this and he's giving us a good deal - will try to lower costs more.

On another note, anyone ever use Aluma Hyde paint? I just painted my AR15 lower receiver and it turned out pretty good. Its like Gunkote or Cerakote but pretty affordable. I may try that out on my steps and sticks that I make.

That's a perfect length and a fair price. I'm in for 8

I would like to see pictures and a weight and would probably take 6

Any chance of a little angle on top of step and/or the raised stop at end.

Other sticks have slight inclines of 3 degrees to 10 degrees which would help on uneven hangs.

The end stop would help with locking in footing & give a secure feel.

Climbing with muddy rubber boots in wet conditions would benefit from both of these design features.

These pics are of the API step as an example.

I was actually looking at those designs early today and agree with the raised lip at the end. For those that have Muddy Pros or API - can you measure the height of the step? Can we still use 1.5" or would we have to go to 2"?
