My First Yellow Jacket (tm) Saddle Build *** Complete 1 lb 7 oz

I have been hunting with the Yellow Jacket the past week and have been getting a bit of hip pinch after 3 hours in the tree. The seam holding the two panels together in the front to back direction runs right over my hip bones at my sides and causes excessive pressure. I will remove some stitches near each end to try to eliminate this.
Way to be honest on the performance on your diy saddle. Keep tinkering and I’m sure you’ll get it to fit just right!

Yeah. Nothing I do is perfect. In fact, everything I do is imperfect.

Hell yes! Its a life and death thing. Im so scared of heights I double my bridge and tether connections LOL
I used to look at my single bridge while hunting in a tree and think the rest of my life depends on this skinny strap. It was a rock climbing sling so should be strong enough. I added a second one and feel better now.

I removed some stitches at each end to make it more Wraptoresque like. I hung from a pullup bar inside and it seems to have less hip pressure. Tomorrow when I am sitting for more than 4 hours will be the test. I may have to DIY a JX3 or maybe a Big Yellow Tree Lounge.

After cutting out some stitches at each end of my Yellow Jacket saddle I sat in a tree from 12:30PM to 6:30PM with only mild hip pinch. I remembered last year how I had that with the sit drag until I developed those hip callouses. :D I know, get a JX3. A 6 hour sit is not too bad.

I did some sewing today on my Yellow Jacket. This newest idea is a work in progress. I think thicker plywood and bolts and washers are in order. It should be a lot lighter than a JX3.

I hunted in the yellow jacket twice this week with the broken piece of board sewed in and it eliminated almost all hip pinch. I thought the board should be a little wider to get rid of the last bit of hip pinch so I sewed in a wider one today. I sat in it from a rope today and it did not crack. I aligned the grain of the center thickness from left to right. The outer veneers are very thin and don't provide much strength. Preliminary feel seems to show no hip pinch. Only a multi-hour sit will tell for sure. I will hunt tomorrow for the test.

Did you spray paint that green strap farther up on this thread?

I use it on
I rebuilt the seat on my climber last week and they used a blue styrofoam of some sort. Weighed just about nothing and would give insulation when cold. Just an ideal
I use it on some things but I don't think it would support your weight!!

Love to see it. You do exceptional work
This thread has mostly been about heavy fabric construction. Here is a video on relaxing. I used that other brown strap as a big back band. It is is great. A few more straps and I will achieve my goal of the big yellow tree-lawn chair. :D
