My new favourite climbing method. Total Cost is under $20 and fits in the palm of my hand.

Unless you plan on rappelling, coming down in the dark the same way would be too risky for my liking.
Have you tried one sticking? Maybe a pound more weight but just as quick and simpler to use going down. And being you're hunting private I'm assuming you're not hiking in for miles that weight would be a major factor in choosing a climbing method.
Good luck and be safe.
Yes, I repel down. I keep my repelling rope in my hip pouch. I've used this to climb down to see how hard it would be, and it's doable, but I don't like climbing down using an aider unless it's one of the hammock strap types which I have held in place on my boots with an elastic. Even then, trying to reach down in the dark to find a step is something I try and avoid.

I have done one sticking and use that a few places I hunt. As well as some SRT and then 3 XOP mini sticks with hammock strap style aiders. I just find this method faster and quieter for me than the other methods most of the time. This wouldn't be a good method on a tree with a lot of branches to go around though.

From hearing some of the comments it sounds like there are some who are concerned about the safety of this method. If you do not feel comfortable trying this, PLEASE DON'T DO IT! I agree adding a tether on top of the linesman would be a good idea. Climbing with bolts definitely come with a risk, but I feel more comfortable having 2 of them side by side so my weight is centered rather than pushing off to the side when using a single bolt. I tried to make this method "fail" at ground level and was unable to do so and then felt comfortable using this at height and sharing it.

I don't claim to be an expert by any means, just looking to enjoy the sport I love. Any input that helps keep me and/or others safe and adds to that enjoyment is more than just welcome, it is invited. I'm a big boy, I can take criticism. I'd much rather learn by reading some helpful comments on here than put myself, or others at risk. Have a great day everyone!

I was really confused in the beginning on what all the background noise was. Then I heard a clear and distinct quack and then laughed to myself.

Lol, Yep. The ducks, sheep, goats, chickens and cows all seemed to be part of the show :tonguewink:
