My Platform is Complete!

Hey @robertreed711 is this plenty stable? Looks rock solid, I just had some issues with smaller diameter tubing and wanted to make sure the 1 1/4" is where it's at. Does it pull away at the top when weight is on it? Thanks!

I weigh ~200# and it's plenty solid for me. The platform itself does flex a little bit but I don't thin it's anything to be concerned about. It doesn't pull away from the tree at all.

So some are standing on that extra step and resetting the platform cam over? Sounds like it wouldn't work well, not to mention over stress the system.

What does it weigh?sorry if this has already been ask?

Did you go with the 9” tube. Also, how did you deicide how far apart to drill the holes for the tree brackets and is there a science to where to locate the seat bracket? I know with a versa button on sticks you don’t want it in the middle of the stick, but slightly above center.
I have ordered components from DanO to make a couple of these, but my package has been lost for 11 days by USPS.

Anyone else that has built one give me some guidance on the platform holes? I plan on building one this weekend with the 9” tube from DanO

I don't really think these measurements are critical but my stand off holes are about 5/8" from the ends and the platform hole is about 4" from the top, this put the actual platform about center when cammed into place.

One thing I would warn you to watch for is where the nut for the top stand off is in relationship to the holes in the platform. Mine just barely clears, contact would prevent it from folding flat.

You will also want to make sure you have some sort of reinforcement for the area the leveling screw contacts.

Thanks so much for the info. I wouldn’t have thought about the top nut standoff clearance. I will definitely template that before drilling.
As far as reinforcement, I was either going to use the strike plate from a deconstructed LW stand or drill out a 2” mending plate.

I think either would probably work just fine. I do everything to excess so I used a 3/8" thick piece of aluminum. Also helped that it was free out of a scrap bin.

I basically copied Robert's design and it works great. For reinforcement where the platform screw meets the 1 1/4" tubing I used a small piece of square tubing. I cut down my lone wolf sticks and it fit inside the 1 1/4" tubing with a little grinding. It fit snug and when you drill the hole for the platform it'll hold it in. No welding, gluing or drilling a plate on the outside. I believe 1" square tubing will fit inside with a little grinding. You'll have to measure for sure if ya go that route.
