My take on an adjustable bridge

The plate on my Onyx saddle acts as a back up if for some reason the Rollnlock would fail and it acts as an adjuster as stated above. On my Kestrel it is my bridge adjuster with it being backed by being attached to the saddle loop via a double fisherman's.

Richard Mumford attaches his RollnLock to the plate with zip ties. The supporting ability is only through it's stopper function on the plate not the zip ties.. On a saddle without a plate, your way seems the best.

I too have mine zip tied on my Onyx this attachment is not life support only to maintain its position. I came up with this attachment via the Petzl ring open and the logical back up to me was the use of the tied on tail of the bridge.

I have my Ropeman 1 carabiner attached to my saddle through the webbing that holds the plate, with no zip ties used.

Would it safe to use the ring open to connect a rope with a sewn eye to one of the bridge loops and then use a ropeman1 and a biner on the other bridge loop for adjustability. Not sure what the advantage is of a rollnrock over a ropeman. This of course assumes that all components are climbing rated safe. If possible would you please post more pics of your setup. I‘m having trouble making out the detail in your rig. Thanks!
Sounds similar to my setup.

Newbie question here. So you added the Prussik as a backup to the mechanical?

Yes, but just while getting confident with the mechanical device. I’ll probably remove the prusik and just use an alpine butterfly knot below the mechanical on the tag end of the bridge for backup.

I just tried my saddle for the first time yesterday. I used a Prussik and did not like how it bound up so tight. I have a Kong ordered and will leave the Prussik as a backup also. Thanks for the idea.

I was playing around with some material I had lying around yesterday. 5/16 Amsteel locked Brummell eye splice and full length bury and 3/16 Amsteel continuous loop prussic. It’s a rather fat plump bridge but seems to work well. Attached with a biner on each side so I can take it on and off. Not a fan of stepping through a fixed bridge.
