Need to finish this

Yep still some meat on that beauty start scraping especially on the fades. Have you thought about steaming it to straighten some twist and put in some back set to get a smoother shooting bow
Yes I’ve thought about it a lot actually. I wish I could show you how crazy the stave actually is. Because I dealt with cracking in some of the layers I had to go 6 rings down from the original ring I chased to find one that had no checking and cracking. I am nervous after reading a fair amount that re-introducing moisture at this point and really trying fight this craziness I will end up causing checking and lose it all together. Also did a lot of reading on dry heat also. This is actually why I haven’t touched the bow in a year. That and I was so mad and demoralized at the money I spent on it.

ok enough whining. At this point and because it’s my first go. I thought I would do what I can through tillering. On that note I actually shifted the string alignment from completely off the bow to roughly down the middle of the handle just by tillering. Let me see if I can find a pic of this. A friend encouraged me to just finish it so that what I’m thinking. So first two pictures are the bow and string alignment on first string up.

After creative tillering. I am open to suggestions though. I figure getting any kind of shooter out of this crazy stave is gonna make me pretty happy. The odd thing about this stave is one limb propellers off to the right and the other to the left with the handle right in the middle of the craziness.

Dry heat is your friend you can definitely straighten up a lot Gary Davis video on Osage bows is the best video out there I would highly suggest it since pics are sometimes hard to look and give advice You can to a point but since I’m not there next to you and see what your seeing I can only offer limited advice Tell you one thing it looks a lot better than my first Osage bow I built 30 years ago

Nice I will check that out. I have a heat gun and may give that a go. I appreciate it!

If subsequent bows only get better, you're a lot farther along than my first. As said before, heat, forms and patience will get that thing right where you want it!
Y’all convinced me. I’m gonna look up some form stuff and see what I can scrounge in the garage.
