Not a new idea, just wanted to share.
I girth hitch the aider to the tree and single stick with it, no stick. Once I get to height and install my platform or ROS, i pack up my 5 step aider and have nothing below my platform. No sway, no stick, no worries.1/16” 7by 7 aircraft cable. No weight to report but can honestly say it is lighter than it was with a 1” Webbing strap. Figured if it would hold a coyote as a snare it will hold me. Can’t wait to try it out. Wasn’t sold on a single loop. And the 5 step aiders look like they have a lot of sway in them.
It's a slower climb for sure. I have 1 tubular webbing on my helium for cold weather hunts, but just the 5 step when its above 35 degrees. Rather slow climb than hunt heavy in super deep public land.I have heard a lot about having to bury your toe into the tree with the 5 steps. But if it works for you awesome. I just didn’t see the need for that many.
