New and improved jx3

Same here. I adjusted my leg straps right after I unboxed it and haven't moved them since.

My two favorite upgrades on gen2 are the linesman belt loops and metal waist/leg buckles. I attached a dogbone to my gen1 linesmans loop to extend it and make it easier to access which worked pretty well. And the metal buckles look and feel safer, which is probably a simple DIY upgrade. I know people say they aren't designed to be part of the life safety harness, but when **** goes wrong, it usually goes very wrong. The metal buckles go a long way with peace of mind.

Gen1 is just as comfortable as gen2, so I'm holding on to both in case I ever need to take gen2 out of service for maintenance during the season. This is my second season with it and it's hands down my favorite piece of hunting gear ever. John is a great guy to do business with as well.

Also very happy with all the changes I made to my setup last year based on recommendations and reviews in this forum. Did a complete overhaul last year and tested a ton of gear. This is the first time in 30 years I haven't wanted to make a single change to my setup.

Can you give us a list of your complete set up because I just got a gen 2 and am still learning it.

I got my alpz outdoor pack attached to it (compartment pouch only) and I can not figure out how to get the layers out of it from behind my back while up in tree. Any tips? I do not want to put all my layers on and try to one stick climb. Sounds too steamy

I feel like my waist belt slips when walking in and all weight ends up on my shoulders. Anyone else? Fix?

You’re not going to like the answer. But in my opinion the belt needs to be inside the frame. For all the goodness of the hybrid, this is one john and I don’t see eye to eye on.

one thing you may try is inserted some type of foam pad in the space between mesh and frame. Something to tighten the belt against behind you besides just the mesh. I’m not sure ifit would help but would be easy to try.

for the way I use the thing, moving the belt to the inside was the only option for me. It now carries as well or better as my dedicated frame packs.

Thanks. I’ll give it a go possibly this afternoon. How’s your waist mobility when up in the tree with the belt inside the frame?

it doesn’t change functionality at all for me as far as the “stand” function of the hybrid goes.

it simply makes it more efficient and comfortable in “pack” mode.

Don’t forget you assume all liability if you do something like this. And you’ll lose the storage function of the mesh if you open up the bottom like I did.

Looks pretty sweet!! I’ve been following the Jx3 since I got my GW last year . I made it work for me, but sold it & switched to a sit drag this year for less bulk.

Looks like there may be a Jx3 in my future. One question- I know it’s designed to be a “mainly sitting” seat, but how is it if you do stand or lean? The biggest issue I had with my GW was that aluminum seat digging in my legs while standing, & then you had to totally readjust to sit again.
I do like the fact of packing everything onto the hybrid.

You just stand & lean. You may let out a bit on the recline strap to get all lined up but that’s about it.

I have the same issue. I plan to move the belt to the inside after this hunting season is over. I tried some padding inside the mesh but it didn't really help.

Does anyone have any tips for shooting to the right as a right handed bow shooter? I have only set up with the mindset of deer coming from the left/strong side because of this issue. Well today, a nice deer came in from the right and I couldn’t figure out how to shoot to the right. Im only using the top of a modded helium stick as platform. I passed the bow over bridge and couldnt get bow drawn comfortable. It doesnt help that I am classified as a long draw shooter either. I tried to pivot the fork, tried to stand and rotate, tried going around the left side and all it kept wanting to do was swing back to “start position” above stick. Maybe a ring of steps is a necessity for 360 shooting from jx3 but I cant do another piece of gear/rope/strap in set up.

Shooting from the weak side of the hybrid is no different than shooting from the weak side in a soft saddle. For me anyway. I’m a 75/30.5” draw shooter. If it’s at 12-2, it’s simply rotating hips slightly to do it. If it’s 2-5, you’re doing a serious turn of the hips and torso to accomplish. I’m pretty flexible and spend a lot of time in a hybrid, and I’m not sure I could do it off a single point of foot contact at the 6 position on the tree.

my four squirrel steps weigh a pound and take about ten seconds to unpack, 30 seconds to hang, and 30 seconds to pack up. I’ve never subscribed to the hunt off a stick with a hybrid theory, unless you’re comfortable limiting yourself as you describe above.

I should also add ive killed two deer on weak side with guidos web, a handful with soft saddle, and a hog and three out of the hybrid off weak side.

it never crossed my mind that it was a difficult or unattainable shot while doing so. But in fairness I’ve hunted from a web or hybrid for several seasons now, and practiced these things a couple times in the yard when I first got them

I might think about ring of steps instead of single point but would prob go back to lwhc first. I have shot several deer weak side and one at my 6 in my Flex soft saddle no problem. Every time I have practiced in yard it was a failure with jx3. I have tried placing tether high up at eye level and in between. Could it be a twther threw triangle as opposed to rope loop thing? I also do not have shoulder straps on either but the bridge system seems to hinder me on the weak side when passing bow over bridge. Trying to swing around tree to the left was hard with single point of contact even with 6 step modded helium top. I also tried adjusting the fork distance to no avail.
