New boots

Yeah I think I may try a pair of waterproof Merrell hikers. I'm just not a knee boot guy if I don't have to be. Typically don't wear them if I know I don't have any deep creeks to cross.
I love mine and they’re super comfortable

Those are LEM’s Boulder boots. Supremely comfortable and unbelievably light.

An old man told me some advice on boots one time, I try to heed it.
“Don’t be afraid to spend money on two things in life. Good boots and a good bed. You’re always in one or the other of them.
Pretty good way to look at it.

Keen hiking boots can be had for about 100. A buddy likes his danners, May try them next. I also have a pair of uninsulated Rockies, forget the style name, stalkers or something like that. Both are fine and comfy for long walks, scouting, and early season hunts if not much water is involved

Yeah I've heard good things about Keen's. May look into them also

I love my keens and that's what I hunt in more often than not. The LEMs are my go to in evenings when it's dry. They aren't waterproof at all and the cordura, while tough, will wick dew off the grass and soak your feet in a skinny minute. My keens coupled with gaiters let no water in. I've even crossed shallow creeks and had the water stay on the outside.

Which keens do you have? I've heard good things about the Pittsburgh's from traditional bowhunting and wilderness podcast on his YouTube channel. He's a die hard keen guy.

Mine are older, gypsum mids, bought for an Appalachian trail hike 6 years ago and have used for scouting and hunting off and on since, still going strong... the targhee looks like it has good reviews. Just gotta go try em on. I haven’t owned enough other brands to say these are better or those are better. But these have served me well for sure

Spray those with Rustoleum NeverWet and it will keep most of the dew at bay. Worked well on my Adidas Terrex boots during turkey season. Going to check out these too.

I have worn LlBean Kangaroo featherweight Upland for that last 10 years. I wear boots 6/7 days a week every week of the year for 15-16 hours a day and these have been the best I’ve owned. Unfortunately though they stopped using Goretex so I’m on the hunt again. I’m looking at either Orvis Kangaroo or some Filsons since I’ll have to waterproof treat them as is. I have no issue paying insane amounts for great boots as much as I wear them.

Have worn danner 453 hikers for years and never had a leak. The all leather version and treat with nik wax. Just wished they were 4 inch taller

I was specifically reading about the pronghorn boots. So, maybe it's just those that consistently leak?

Depending on where you hunt check out Merrels or Oboz. I use mine from early season to sub freezing and they are waterproof. Not very high on the ankle so if creek crossings are common then they may not be your best bet
Interested in the Merrell's. Why do you say "depending on where you hunt check out Merrells"? Are there certain terrain features and/or temperatures you don't recommend them?
