New caliber options

(thread heist to the OP - got any holster recommendations? - for your 'soon-to-be' newest caliber?)

You should check out Ringler Custom Leather!
They make a few different holsters. I went with the Wyoming Combination Holster. I love it !!!
I can wear it like a gun fighter, I can wear it cross-draw, or I can wear it 'Bandito', which is my favorite...

If I remember right he had it to me in about 45-60 days. For a custom holster that's awesome turnaround time!

(Taking selfies is terrible) lol

I've always wanted a 44 mag carbine either bolt gun or semi auto. Especially after seeing videos of the silent destroyer builds.

I have two marlin lever guns one in 44 mag and 450 marlin. Both are wonderful looking guns, one is a mule kicker. I'll let you guess which one that is.

My dad has a 44 mag lever gun. I was amazed how smooth shooting that thing was. I would totally buy one if I was in the market.

Ruger American and savage axis. The only way I get ok feeding is not to use ballistic tip. I was going to build an AR, but not anymore.

How has the round performed? I’m wanting one in Ruger American myself.
I find ammo every where in that caliber

no way i'd shoot a 444 marlin or 45-70 for deer at 100 yards or less....it's not worth the unpleasant and bad shooting habit inducing recoil....44 mag in a long barrel all day on this one.....deer really aren't tough animals if you shoot them in the rib cage....i've killed multiple with 22-250 and 223

I busted a fat doe and several hogs with 62 gr soft points in my 22 Nosler (glorified 22-250 in an AR platform)

Wouldn't be my first choice but I'll take an opportunity especially on pigs.

I would agree that the 44 mag will be plenty at 100yds or less.

If your state is like Louisiana we can shoot 35 caliber or larger during our primitive season most guys prefer the 35 wheeler
Me personally I like the 350 legend in a cva scout. It's such a small package you forget your packing it. I also had a gut build me a 38-55 if you can get your hands on a 38-55 I'd say grab it fast

What about a 450 Bushmaster? They are excellent... I have shot Ruger American, Ruger scout and I currently own a Christianson arms 450 bushmaster, and all three of those rifles shot 3 shot sub moa groups at 100 yards...

Same thought. I Have a doomsday supply of .357 mag.

Yes this!! Reloading 357 is so easy and can be loaded down for plinking squirrels or loaded up to 30-30 velocities. I hunt with Ruger 77/357 rifle. Weighs 5 pounds so I can lug it around all day and it takes deer cleanly at least to 100 yards. My vote is 357!

No feeding issues with mine thus far… though I’ve heard that varies with ammo and mag selection. It shoots pretty flat out to 150 yards which works for me. Got to shoot a doe at 100 yards a couple weeks ago and it killed her quick

wanted to update my comments on the 350 legend. Had not used my Ruger 350 legend for a while because of feeding issues (had similar issues with other rifles in that caliber). Came across a newer article where someone showed his fix for the magazine and it worked! This was on a AR style magazine(350 legend specific..no extra bump). Dremeled where the higher feed lips meet the lower feed lips and no more nose dive or getting caught on the front of the magazine. Back in business.

There was a similar update in my local zones, but limited to .44 mag, 357 and .45
I’m tempted by a .44 lever, except for the fact that when I tag out in archery / muzzleloader season I don’t even get out for firearms .
I also suspect it would not create many more shot oops over a well placed muzz round.
My 336 .30-.30 is my favorite for the woods and it rarely gets out unless I head toward snow.

That’s kind of where I landed. Was able to resist the urge to buy another gun/barrel and just used my ML. Wouldn’t you know I missed the first shot, but he gave me an opportunity for a second despite the awkward reload in the tree.
