New dude from Virginia

My wife got it when she was 18. Her mother actually got it when she was pregnant with their 3rd and it never went away. It is challenging and a lot of work but you'll fall into a routine. The new technology they have with the pumps and blood checkers is really amazing and truly a gamechanger. She has probably had a pump now for almost 15 years. We went on a hike around a reservoir and her blood sugar went low and she passed out halfway through. The rangers and EMS had to come. That was what finally prompted her insurance company to approve the pump for her and they have only gotten better since. Definitely make sure you stay on top of your numbers when you're out in the woods alone!

Appreciate it! Yeah - I'm going easy into it this fall. I have started running again (3-5 miles 3x/week). I seem to have that down. But man, hiking drops me hard right now it's weird. Still figuring out how to carb load without going to the moon but not dropping like a rock an hour later. lol. Yeah the tech is amazing. My cousin has had T1D for years and I'm close with him and know how fortunate I am to have gotten it now vs 10-20 some years ago.
