New Old man from NJ

Great to hear that you still have "it" at 65. Good luck with this adventure. Hope I'm still kicking when I get 65
I am not what I was 20 years ago but still have the desire and drive . You have to hunt smart and safe the older you get . I did stop for a couple years do to illness and really got out of shape . I told myself until I lose weight and get back in good muscular and cardiovascular shape I would not hunt . I worked hard with weights and treadmill lost the weight got strong a couple of years ago and went back to hunting . Eat the right foods work out take care of yourself and you'll hunt when your 65 too. I am no health nut by any means but know if I want to do what I love to do I have to be in decent shape . Climbing trees .Dragging deer out, hunting in the cold , butchering your own deer is pretty hard work . I am a solo hunter too . Trust me you have your days when you just don't have it but that's normal .I do have a good cardiologist and that is important too :)

Thank You

Thank You great to hear . Do you use a saddle ?
Just started this year. I have done the full circle now as I used to use ropes to climb to my wooden platforms when I started bow hunting in 1965. I still have a couple of hang on stands and a permanent hexagon ground blind I made from exterior plywood 3 years ago. I think the saddle is by far the most mobile and comfortable for me as I have some back issues.

Cant wait to try the saddle for the comfort and stealth . Sitting in hang on or ladder the Back and sciatica starts up after about two hours I push to about 4 hours but have to stand a few times . Summit climber with that hammock seat can go much longer .That's why I went with cruzr xc seems like it will be like a hammock and you can reposition when ever you have too. I do ground hunt or spot and stalk but not very often . Mostly tree for me. All public land .

Thank You ,great to see another saddle hunter from Morris County . I do the county bow hunt ,have been since it started . Hard to get private land. I might need some lessons on saddle hurting if your available . When I get my saddle . :)

I do the county hunt as well. I can help you out but probably not until after the new year if it would still help. I have a 5 year old so life is hectic as it is... and then for the past month and a half we've been really short staffed at work and I'm putting in a lot of hours. Really put a damper on my after work hunting time!
If you send me a pm I can give you any saddle tips along the way :)

Welcome from La, I to have a little snow on top. Like you I to love bow hunting however packing stands and finding perfect tree away from other hunters is getting harder. Looking to try other options. Maybe saddle hunting is the. Way to go.
