New tethrd climbing sticks.

Thanks. I’m not sure I could form an honest opinion based on that photo, but I can speculate along with everyone else.

I think it’s going to be like those cheap snap off knives at Home Depot. Buy stick. Adjust step distance. Snap off excess. No more of the multiple sizes to manufacture to please the vertically challenged. Boom! Money printer.

Speculating: the holes are first about weight savings.

The snap and go application is interesting I suppose, but you could already cut a tube down to your size so to me that's not so wow, omg, they did that?!?

I've come to learn over the last few years that there's a lot of people who draw the line of do it yourself at "have to drill holes".

I'm with you - for someone with basic mechanical aptitude, and access to a neighbor with tools or a harbor freight, this isn't ground breaking. But it really is novel for a large subset of folks. Maybe that's a good thing. time will tell.

My brain has gotten a total recalibration lately on how broad definitions of things can truly be haha.

Lol, yea, and I don't hold that against anyone. Buying stuff and cutting it up and boring holes and what not should probably come less naturally to many of us (self included).

For Tethrd, it's at least a great marketing ploy. Heliums already have weight reduction channels. Holes are probably easier to machine and hey, why not Leverage that? The Helium channels limit your cut lengths.

I am supposing these are meant to compete directly with Heliums, and to outcompete them. They can and will, if BigT hits the pricepoint.

Agree, but I was just kidding and wildly speculating.

With that said, if selling to the masses is the goal (which I think we know it is), then the DIY aspect would have to be stupid simple for the masses. I honestly believe if you opened a web page and offered to tie knots and send them back to customers, you’d make beer money easy. I’m talking craft beer money.

Gonna test that. I'm telling my son $1 every time I have to tie his shoes.

Nevermind, I don't want to raise a crock-o-phile.

From what I gathered, most of their soft goods are made in the U.S. The problem with hard goods is material costs but I do agree that I'd be willing to spend slightly more if it were made by an American.

I’m not sure all of their soft goods are made in the US. I saw some shipping manifest recently (from China) that showed they had some of their ESS coming over. Not 100% sure because I didn’t look at it very long, but I believe there were some others on that shipment as well.

Dang,, I never thought of that. My brother in law sold a good bucket truck last year and I could have got it for less then all my stands and sticks cost. What camo pattern you put on that bucket??
I’m a day-glo hippie by nature. When Hunter S Thompson was asked after losing his bid for Pitkin County Sheriff if he had any advice for Nixon he replied “Yeah, wear brighter colors.”

I say go full tie-dye

You could use a set up similar to theirs, then use a grade 8 spring loaded dowel. Pull a key chain style loop to pull the pin back and let the steps fold inward (instead of folding them up and letting them rest on a bolt. In my mind that would be a pretty sweet set up
Seems almost pretty straightforward to be honest, other than the dowel probably needing to come out a long way and resulting in a tumor-like wart on the front of the stick. Probably a fair bit easier to do with single steps though.

Lived there in 1980, before Hollywood took over. Thought I remembered the name. Can’t imagine him as sheriff tho
I’ll assume from your comments about Hollywood taking over that you wouldn’t have subscribed to the “freak power” platform. Oddly enough, I’m guessing you would have agreed with his position on land development but perhaps not his drug law reforms, which in my eyes are truly libertarian and honor the often tossed around mantra of “personal liberty“.

I was too young and naive to really have any interest in all that, just skiing and girls (and partying). I had just heard stories about the Hollywood elite sorta taking over the whole town. And as time rolls on here lately, my conservative views are becoming more and more libertarian!!!
