New tethrd menace bridge

Hey guys, I’m new to the forum and to saddle hunting. I just got my tethrd menace today and I’ve been hanging in it/practicing shooting all day and I noticed the bridge is much thinner in the middle and has some of the core coming out. Should I be worried or is this normal? Tried googling, couldn’t come up with much. Thanks in advance!!

Totally normal. And what you see coming out is likely just the bury of the splice.

they stopped doing a full bury so that the entire length of the bridge is 2 cords, one inside the other?

There is an eye at each end, nothing to worry about if you’re okay with shoddy splicing and poor material choice by the maker.

Hi! Many first time Tethrd owners have this same question. Amsteel is hollow, so those thicker areas are the end of the rope buried in the core of the rope. So, since the core is hollow, movement when not under tension the weave can open up and allow some of that bury (which if done right has been tapered) to become exposed. It's harmless, so best to leave it alone rather than risk damage to the bridge by trying to trim it or something.

There doesn’t look to be much of a taper, poor planning to have the ends of the buries right where most of the wear and flexing happen. I think single braid is used because it the easiest to splice for the manufacturer, not because it is the best choice for what it has to do.
