Good morning saddle hunters I am a 58 year old man and have just got to the point that lugging my Old Man climber in to hunt is hard on the old shoulders and back. I live in N. Fla. and was wondering what advice I could get on making the switch to a lighter way to hunt. Not sure where to start I have climbing sticks but don’t want to spend money on something that I don’t need. Any advice would be nice.

Welcome from KS. Sounds like you have first piece of the puzzle.

Main category left would be saddle, ropes/attachment method, and platform.

You can pick up some good used deals on here to test out and then if they don’t work easy enough to get your money back out of them.

H2 saddles seems to have a small but only positive following at a reasonable price.

If you can get to a saddle meet up or Tethrd teach n Train will give you a chance to check out a lot of variety before spending the money on anything.

Good luck!

Look into some of the saddle meet ups, you can try a bunch of stuff in one day. Doesn't sound like your to far from saddlepalooza

Welcome to Saddle Hunter.
I've been saddle hunting for 6 years now and am 64 years old. I hunt 95% public ground and have had a very good year this year.
I live in S Florida N Ft Myers and hunt the Everglades to Eglin AF Base as I work in Louisiana.
I stopped in Tate's Hell on the way to work
And saw one good buck at 70 yards but that was it.
Anyhow if you come from a climber I would highly recommend a Lone Wolf hand climber seat. That's what I use 99% of the time and I have all the bells and whistles. Sticks, WE Steps, Bolts, Spurs ECT.
Not sure where you live but might be able to hook up on my way home if you live on my travel route.
Watch the George Clark and Adrena123 videos on the hand climber seat.
I have my gear in the truck so depending on what time I get off would depend on our meet.

My preferred way is hunting off the ground if it's possible without being detected (ghillie suit and a foldable stool) Second is a saddle. Look up fleece saddles and/or preacher seat on this forum, they're an easy and economical way to try out really comfortable saddles.

That's a long ways from where I turn S. I usually take 59 just E of Tallahassee hit 19 to 98.
Bud you need to go to Saddlepalooza in Darien Ga this year. I can't make it have to work but went two years ago and had a blast.
There will be every method known to man there and every one is very helpful with newbies. Your welcome to come meet on my way home but if you really want to learn about Saddle hunting I would recommend Saddlepalooza.
