If just getting into it get a 35 pound-ish recurve. Heavier bows will lead to bad & inconsistent form. Myself & a lot of others have been trying to overcome bad habits caused by heavy bow weights for years. An ILF riser is ideal since you can purchase heavier limbs later. Myself & all the trad shooters I shoot with hunt with 40-50 lb bows & shoot through most deer. A heavy arrow & sharp cu on contact heads are key.
